US-based mobile marketing firm Leanplum enters Europe, opens office in Amsterdam

In a recent development, Leanplum, the leading mobile marketing platforms has made its ways to the European market and has opened its new office in Amsterdam. Founded in 2012, Leanplum is based in San Francisco and helps global brands like Tinder, Grab, Tesco, and Zynga to orchestrate multi-channel campaigns including messaging, in-app experience and more.

As per the press release, the company plans to strengthens its relationships with European clients including Next Games, Talpa Media, Tesco, and more.

“The mobile economy in Europe is seeing tremendous growth, driving billions of dollars for brands. From social networks to entertainment to mobile commerce, the region represents one of the most engaged mobile populations in the world,” said Momchil Kyurkchiev, co-founder and CEO, Leanplum. “In Europe, enterprises are in need of a mobile platform like Leanplum to help them scale real-time engagement, meet growing privacy requirements like GDPR, and deliver mobile growth strategies in fast changing markets.”

Regional Expansion

Leanplum is building its European presence to address the mobile growth opportunity in key markets such as the UK and Ireland, DACH, BeNeLux, and Nordic countries.

According to GSMA, Europe has the second highest level of mobile user engagement by region (just behind the United States), and is home to five of the top 10 most engaged countries in the world (led by Denmark and Finland).

The new Amsterdam location will serve as Leanplum’s new regional headquarters. The company also has offices in London, as well as a large team in Sofia, Bulgaria supporting product development and engineering. Oliver Stein, formerly VP of Sales at Optimizely, was hired to lead regional sales and operations out of Amsterdam, and has doubled the size of the team in recent months.

Customer Momentum

Currently, Leanplum client list in Europe includes: Clue, a free period and ovulation tracker from Berlin-based BioWink, Next Games, a Finnish mobile game developer and publisher,    Talpa Media, a Dutch TV, radio, and digital entertainment producer and broadcaster,     Tesco, Britain’s multinational grocery and merchandise retailer, and Trainline, an independent digital rail platform from the UK.

Leanplum platform provides the real-time insights and capabilities to help marketers deliver in-the-moment engagement and build meaningful customer relationships by capturing more than 18 billion mobile data points daily and delivering over 50 million messages every hour.

Meanwhile, Leanplum also has offices across North America, Europe, and Asia. The company has received more than $98 million in funding from Norwest Venture Partners, Canaan Partners, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, and Shasta Ventures, and is recognized Fortune’s Best Companies to Work For, SF Business Times’ Best Places to Work, and Best Entrepreneurial Companies in America by Entrepreneur magazine.
