Last update:

Main Capital Partners, a Dutch software investor, announced that it completed a capital raise totalling €1.21B for two new funds.

Post the launch of Main Capital VII and Main Foundation I, the Dutch investor’s total assets under management (AUM) have more than doubled to approximately €2.2B.

More than 60 per cent of the capital raised in the new funds came from the pre-existing investor base. The rest comes via new relationships with reputable institutions such as pension funds, asset managers, family offices, and high-net-worth individuals.

Fund utilisation

The company is planning to use the funds to grow and develop European software groups in multiple market segments, targeting local buy-and-build strategies and cross-border growth.

Charly Zwemstra, Chief Executive Officer of Main Capital, commented, “We aim to play a key role in the consolidation of the fragmented software market by building leading European software groups, executing strong, fit for purpose business models that drive sustainable growth.”

With Main Capital VII, the company will continue its existing strategy of building profitable enterprise software groups, while its new fund, Main Foundation I, will target fast-growing enterprise software companies with modern technology platforms.

Focus on enterprise software

Main Capital is a strategic investor with an exclusive focus on enterprise software companies in the Benelux, DACH, and Nordics regions. The company has a workforce of 45 employees with offices in The Hague, Stockholm, and Düsseldorf.

Main Capital has acquired or invested in more than 100 software companies to date and has realised 17 strategic scenarios for the divestment of software groups.

As of October 2021, Main Capital manages a portfolio of 29 platform companies, creating employment for approximately 4,000 people.

Last month, Main Capital Partners supported SDB Group, a Dutch company that develops and supplies innovative and specialist ICT solutions for the healthcare sector, in acquiring three Dutch software companies to foray into the childcare market.
