Last update:

Delft-based Mapiq, a smart office technology that optimises workspace usage to provide a better workday experience, announced on Tuesday that it has raised €7M in a Series A extension round, taking the total Series A funding to €17M.

The €7M extension came from Rinkelberg Capital, a London-based investment office of the founders of TomTom N.V., Energy-Innovation fund ENERGIIQ and an existing investor. The company had raised €10M in June 2021.

Sander Schutte, CEO of Mapiq, says, “It is a strong sign of commitment that our investors show such confidence in our continuous progress. Due to the increasing need for hybrid working models, any organisation worldwide is becoming a potential Mapiq user. This Series A extension enables us to meet this growing demand, develop new products, and further expand our market leadership position internationally.”

Supporting sustainability goals

As we all witnessed, globally, hybrid working was accelerated due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Organisations in all sectors are now seizing the chance to rethink the way employees do their jobs. According to McKinsey, a hybrid work approach helps businesses everywhere in reducing costs, attracting and retaining people, and strengthening organisational culture as well as performance.

In order to help staff members adjust to this new reality, Dutch startup Mapiq provides them with tools to plan team office days and optimise their calendars through personalised advice. This, in turn, provides businesses with accurate data that can be used to monitor and constantly optimise the use of their office space. As a result, firms can save real estate expenses while advancing environmental objectives by designing more energy-efficient workspaces.

With the increase in hybrid working trends and inherently workplace technology becoming essential, Mapiq is expanding into new regions and further investing in the expansion of its team.

Brief about Mapiq

Founded in 2013 by Sander Schutte and Jasper Schuurmans, Mapiq helps optimise an organisation’s workspace, to uncover the full potential of their employees with the help of a unified cloud platform.

With Mapiq’s platform, employees have everything they need in the office. For example, they can reserve a parking space, find available workstations near their colleagues, or spontaneously book a meeting room that best suits their activity. Organisations, therefore, gain detailed insight into the use of their smart office. By monitoring which zones and facilities are used most frequently, they can set up their office more efficiently and also respond to constantly changing accommodation needs.

The company made its breakthrough in 2014 via its partnership with Deloitte, which rolled out the Mapiq platform in its energy-neutral office building The Edge in Amsterdam. The company now claims it is a leader in the international smart office market, with operations in 20 countries.

Currently, Mapiq works with global customers such as Microsoft, Booking.com, COTY, PwC, Danone, RioTinto, AkzoNobel, Heineken, KPMG, and others.
