Meet Bolt 6: Here are 6 awesome tech and features of this new scooter

Tallinn-based Bolt, a transportation platform providing ride-hailing, micromobility and food delivery services in Europe, announced on Wednesday its new in-house scooter model Bolt 6.

The company says that the new scooter, which is outfitted with various sensors and microprocessors, data mining capabilities, and precision technologies, sets a new benchmark for safety, sustainability, and user experience.

Safety for both, riders and pedestrians

The ride-hailing company claims that Bolt 6 will keep riders and pedestrians safe. All Bolt SafeRide System features are compatible with the company’s 6th generation scooter model.

This implies that Bolt 6 can recognise crashes in real-time as well as tandem riding, skidding, and rapid braking.

IoT-enhanced smart module

Bolt 6 can accept a “cutting-edge” smart module with expanded IoT, which incorporates security measures for data protection and safety, thanks to the Advanced Mobility Intelligence System.

The Bolt 6’s advanced technology creates alerts and maintenance plans to guarantee that all the scooters on the roads are in top technical condition.

Dmitri Pivovarov, VP for Rentals at Bolt, says, “Our new Bolt 6 scooter was created by our team of engineers to address the needs of cities and riders. Designing a scooter in-house gives us full control of software and hardware, enabling us to continuously upgrade the safety features that we provide to riders and pedestrians.”

“Owning the full process of scooter development and production also means stricter quality control and higher safety standards. At the same time, we don’t overpay for supplier and manufacturer margins. This allows us to forward the cost savings to our customers through more affordable scooter rides,” adds Pivovarov.

Smart Parking solutions

The Smart Parking 360 solutions package is also included with Bolt 6, enabling Bolt and passengers to properly address parking difficulties. The bundle includes an AI parking system that quickly and effectively checks photographs of parked scooters. 

Besides, the scooter’s sensors will also advise users to reposition the vehicle to prevent falls if it is tilted more than 15 per cent while parked.

90 KM range

The goal of Bolt’s team was to create the most environmentally friendly sharing scooter. A 1,1 kWh vandalism-resistant battery in the scooter gives it a 90 KM range on a single charge.

As a result, Bolt’s scooter operations have a smaller carbon footprint since the scooters can operate for longer periods of time between charges and battery changes.

The battery can be checked while the scooter is being used, as well as while it is stationary in the warehouse or being transported. As a result, the activities required to run the model are safer overall, says the company.

Comfortable riding posture

With the efficient design and the premium materials used, Bolt believes that its newest model will have an expected lifespan of 8 years based on rigorous fatigue testing and accelerated longevity.

Because of its modular design and ability to swap out any damaged pieces for new ones, Bolt 6 is extremely repairable. The scooter’s electrical components are all IP67-rated. IP67 is a classification for electrical enclosures that indicates how well an enclosure protects the device within from the damaging effects of water and dust.

The scooter is meant to assist consumers maintain a comfortable riding posture by having one of the industry’s broadest floorboards and sweeping handlebars. An underfloor battery maintains a low centre of gravity, resulting in more stability and better weight distribution. 

Furthermore, the Bolt 6 comes with a suspension and a larger 12-inch front wheel to assist riders navigate obstacles securely and comfortably.

LED display

Bolt claims that the scooter will connect with clients via the in-built LED display, which will provide information about the scooter’s speed and battery level. The scooter’s top speed is 25 km/h, and can be lowered further if necessary by local or national legislation.

The first 1,000 Bolt 6s will be deployed in Lisbon, Riga, and Tallinn by the end of July 2023, with plans to expand the fleet over the next year.
