British Virgin Islands-based MetaMundo, a startup that enables architects and 3D artists to mint, sell, and license 3D Model NFT collectibles by bringing the metaverse together, announced on Tuesday that it has launched the First 3D NFT Marketplace for the Metaverse.

Through MetaMundo’s marketplace, 3D artists, architects, and designers can sell their 3D scenes and assets directly to metaverse users as 3D NFTs.

Curated scenes and assets

MetaMundo claims to partner with a curated selection of leading 3D creators, active in design in the metaverse and real-life. Renowned NFT artist Dutchtide, American modernist architect Luis Fernandez, and metaverse architect Mila Lolli are a few top 3D designers who collaborate with MetaMundo.

MetaMundo will begin with weekly handpicked NFTs releases at launch. Each has an in-depth editorial interview.

Finn Hansen, co-founder of MetaMundo, says, “MetaMundo’s vision is to facilitate a beautifully designed, interoperable, and open metaverse – an immersive 3D social internet, where everyone can own and build parts of it through blockchain technology. The marketplace launch is our first major step towards realising this vision. For the first time, we have enabled metaverse users to collect high-quality 3D scenes—minted as NFTs—for use across many virtual environments.”

The inaugural 3D NFT drops include Dutchtide, a Dutch artist created Japanese Zen art gallery that is influenced by Brutalist architecture, and a Luis Fernandez created sprawling ocean-side luxury villa, recalling the work of Adolf Loos and Mies van der Rohe. The gallery will be auctioned as a 1/1 edition; the villa will be available for purchase from an edition of 100.

A Marketplace Built for 3D NFTs and Interoperability

In order to address various issues with 3D files, the metaverse, and NFTs, MetaMundo created its own NFT on Ethereum. It is engineered for compatibility with 3D files and the metaverse.

One NFT may include several 3D files, thanks to a metadata structure. A collection of 3D files compatible with Decentraland, The Sandbox, Cryptovoxels, Spatial, VRChat, and other platforms, is included with each NFT sold on MetaMundo.

The NFT, which is compatible with developing metaverse settings, may gradually incorporate additional 3D files. The creator’s 3D file is used by MetaMundo to create several metaverse-optimised 3D files by going through a conversion and optimisation pipeline.

Co-founder of MetaMundo, Finn Hansen, says, “We’re solving the lack of NFT interoperability through a unique architecture we’ve developed which features a versatile and extensible NFT metadata structure, supporting multiple 3D file versions and offering the flexibility to add additional file versions later to enable future-proofing as 3D technology evolves.”

User experience for collecting 3D NFTs

The majority of NFT marketplaces used today were created with the intention of collecting 2D NFTs. Because of the rapid growth of the metaverse and 3D virtual worlds, MetaMundo has created a user interface that is particularly tailored to gathering 3D NFTs.

Before collectors make a purchase, they may preview and interact with the 3D files included with each NFT using an interactive viewer on the MetaMundo marketplace.

3D NFT Marketplace for Building the Metaverse

Founded in 2021 by Mark Studholme and Finn Hansen, MetaMundo offers 3D creators a platform where they can mint their 3D assets as NFTs and sell, auction or licence them to collectors and game builders. The platform ensures 3D NFTs are interoperable across the metaverse.

The company claims to empower 3D creators and collectors to build an open metaverse with “unique”, “high-quality”, and “imaginative objects,” including avatars, wearables, vehicles, and buildings. Creators can use open metaverses and VR/AR applications including Decentraland, Cryptovoxels, Somnium Space, and Spatial
