Last update:

France-based Moments Lab, a company on a mission to help content producers build videos faster, has raised $24M (nearly €21M) in funding, with Oxx leading the round. Other participants include Orange Ventures, Kadmos, Supernova Invest, and Elaia Partners.

Moments Lab helps content producers build videos faster by making audiovisual content searchable. The company’s MXT Multimodal AI indexes video in natural language, allowing users to focus on creative and strategic tasks.

Gökçe Ceylan, Principal at Oxx, says, “Moments Lab is one of those rare companies where the product actually feels like magic. The first time we saw MXT in action—pulling insights from hours of raw video in seconds—we knew this team was solving a problem that’s only getting bigger.”

“Philippe and Frederic have built a world-class AI engine and surrounded it with the kind of product DNA and customer empathy that gives them a serious edge. This blend makes Moments Lab a perfect example of the kind of company and people we like to partner with, and we’re excited to welcome them into the Oxx family.”

An AI video discovery platform

Founded in 2016 by twin brothers Frederic and Philippe Petitpont, Moments Lab provides AI tools for media companies, sports organisations, and global brands to manage and monetise large video libraries.

Its platform allows users to index, archive, search, repurpose, and monetise video content at scale. The company’s mission is to help content producers create videos more efficiently by making audiovisual content searchable and reducing the time spent identifying key moments for storytelling.

Moments Lab’s MXT Multimodal AI enables video understanding and indexing by describing sequences in natural language. It analyses and breaks videos into scenes, identifying people, actions, locations, and shot types. It also selects soundbites from interviews, speeches, and press events.

MXT can be customised to user requirements, including detection of individuals, brand logos, specific highlights, and content types. The AI’s output can be aligned with an organisation’s tone of voice, supporting tailored content workflows at scale.

Co-founder and CTO, Frederic Petitpont, says, “Quality indexing metadata is the foundation of a valuable AI agent user experience, and that’s exactly what we’re providing to our clients with MXT and our AI agent, which has exceeded expectations in its closed beta launch. Some users tell us it’s like having an additional team member!”

The platform is used by TV networks, production companies, sports rights holders, and brands for tasks such as managing live recordings, clipping highlights, researching story angles, retrieving content, and licensing. Its clients include Thomson Reuters, Sinclair, Hearst, Amazon Ads, and Banijay.

Moments Lab reports that it has more than doubled its recurring revenue over the past year and projects continued growth through 2025.

Capital utilisation

The funding will support Moments Lab’s expansion in the US and further development of its research and technology, including its MXT-2 multimodal AI and a new agentic AI for video discovery and storytelling.

Philippe Petitpont, co-founder and CEO of Moments Lab, says, “Bringing efficiency to organisations working with video was just the beginning. With MXT, we can parse video at scale with unmatched speed. Now we are focused on what humans can’t do— like generate rough cuts in minutes with a simple prompt.”

Petitpont adds, “Enabling teams to drill down from thousands of hours of video and glean insights about a specific topic in just seconds creates enormous value. This $24M investment will accelerate the rollout of our agentic AI technology, which sets a new standard for intelligent video discovery.”

“We’re excited to partner with our new investors Oxx, Orange Ventures and Kadmos, and are grateful for the continued support from Supernova Invest and Elaia Partners.”
