In the current market scenario, there is a necessity for HR software, which provides data security across an organisation’s HR operations. HR tools are not only meant to ease the workload of HRs but also help companies grow and develop the best global teams.

Established in 2005 in Finland by siblings Keijo Karjalainen and Taina Karjalainen, Sympa is a complete and fully customisable solution that lets you focus on employees and make smart decisions. The company provides companies with an aggregated and clear view of all their employee data, a reliable tool for automating a range of everyday HR tasks and unlimited integrations to various other software.

Exhibits 45% growth in 2019

The Helsinki-based HR solution provider, Sympa announced its end-of-year results exhibiting strong growth in 2019. It has witnessed a year-on-year sales growth figure of 45% outside of Finland. Sympa has successfully expanded into the international markets with a strong growth in Sweden followed by the Netherlands. Notably, it recently entered into other countries such as Denmark and Norway.

Sympa employs 130 people throughout its international markets across Northern Europe. With this, the overall number of employees located outside its home market Finland has increased from 8 to 45 people in a couple of years.

“Our growth strongly accelerated in the last quarter of 2019 and we have now reached €10M turnover,” said Sympa CEO Keijo Karjalainen. “That’s a clear indication of the underlying strength of our business. Our year-on-year sales growth for the past three months is close to 100% with new exciting openings in the public sector, so we’re confident of hitting our targets.”

Ropes in new customers

Last year, Sympa signed deals with 140 new customers across markets. In the largest Nordic market, Sweden, which is a key driver of its growth, Sympa has signed new customers such as Oatly, The North Alliance, and Byggmax among others making it a market leader in terms of new business. And, in the Netherlands, Sympa has roped in Matrix Fitness, CTS Group, and EuroDev as its new customers.

As a result of its rapid growth, Sympa is used for an average of 650,000 times every month in more than 100 countries. “Already by 2018, more than 50% of our new business originated from businesses with roots outside of Finland,” said Karjalainen. “Most of our new large customers operate in several countries – until now, HR software for mid-market companies were unable to handle international HR processes comprehensively.”

Partnered with e-signature providers

In 2019, Sympa continued to make technological advancements that drove its growth. It became the first HR system to partner with e-signature providers such as Scrive, DocuSign, Verified, and Assently. Eventually, it paved the way to a fully paperless HR system.
