Right now, when the energy transition is underway, there are fluctuations in the energy supply and demand, and energy storage has a major role to play in regulating the same. With an increase in local energy generation and temporary use of energy, Skoon Energy’s Skoonbox will ensure to accelerate the energy transition on land, where users depend on decentralised energy.

Founded by Peter Paul van Voorst tot Voorst and Daan Geldermans in 2017, the Dutch startup Skoon operates with the mission to accelerate the energy transition by creating a network of versatile swappable batteries that let users share, rent, and lease batteries. The focus of this company is to build a trusted community for businesses to discover, offer, and book energy storage for mobile and temporary applications.

Launches Skoon Cloud!

At a program, Skoon founders and Kees Koolen (Koolen Industries), Alderman Barbara Kathmann (Municipality of Rotterdam) and Reinier van Herel (Damen Shipyards) pitched their vision on the significance of energy transition and the economic impact on the society.

Recently, Skoon Energy has launched Skoon Cloud, which is the world’s first online platform meant for battery sharing. The company has also unveiled a special battery trailer. The Skoon team has developed the plug and play mobile energy source for small applications.

Using this unique battery sharing platform, Skoon connects both supply and demand for mobile batteries. The platform also connects several markets and applications together. Batteries from Wattsun and Greener, two well-established companies in the battery sector will be available via Skoon Cloud. Notably, battery owners will start using this battery sharing platform to realise higher uptime for their batteries.

Accelerates energy transition

By automating transport from A to B and ensuring the battery complies with specifications for the intended use, Skoon lets simplify battery sharing for both end-users and suppliers. It adds to the ease of use and profitability. The online marketplace delivers a measurable and tangible contribution to the acceleration of energy transition.

Maritime certified battery

Skoon has built a maritime certified containrised battery and Skoon Cloud. The first Skoon Box has an energy content of 600 kilowatt hours. Initially aimed at maritime applications, the Rotterdam-based company shifted its focus quickly to clean mobile energy.

Presented Skoontrailer!

The team presented the first operational Skoontrailer to the audience. The more reliable and smaller mobile version of the Skoonbox provides energy to smaller applications. The compactness of this Skoonbox allows the trailer to be driven on a regular drivers license in the Netherlands. It simplifies clean energy to smaller events, film sets, renovations and more. Notably, it is available through the Skoon Cloud.
