Since the reduced use of greenhouse gases is a top priority of the Energy Transition, companies operating across industries ensure to devise solutions that will convert primary electricity into material energy carriers. This ensures companies to store electricity and made it accessible for other purposes. This is possible with the integration of mobility in both Energy Transition and the development of eco-friendly and sustainable alternatives resulting in electric mobility.

Encouraging this attempt taken by entrepreneurs towards Energy Transition and electric mobility, some Dutch startups have been announced at the CES Unveiled in Amsterdam and these companies will take part in the CES 2020. These seven Dutch startups will participate in the most prestigious tech event in the world that will be held in Las Vegas in January 2020.

Having said that, here we list seven Dutch startups that will shape up the future of the Energy Transition and e-mobility industry.

Incooling (Eindhoven)

Founders: Guus Frericks, Rudie Verweij
Founded year: 2019

Why its hot: Incooling has created the world’s first two-phase high-pressure cooling system dedicated to cooling data centres. The mission of the company is to realise next-generation performance. Unlike any other cooling system that is designed for data centres, Incooling makes use of high pressure to pump the refrigerant in smaller quantities with higher efficiency.

LeydenJar Technologies (Leiden)

Founders: Christian Rood, Gabriel de Scheemaker
Funding: €4.3 million
Valuation: €3 million
Founded year: 2016

Why its hot: The Leiden-based startup LeydenJar Technologies replaced graphite anode of a battery cell with a 100% silicon anode. The battery consists of an anode that gives it a negative charge, a cathode for a positive charge, and the electrolyte. The startup generates up to 50% increased energy density in Li-ion battery cells.

NOWI Energy (Delft)

Founders: Omar Link, Simon van de Jagt
Funding: €2.5 million
Valuation: €4 million – €6 million
Founded year: 2015

Why its hot: NOWI Energy technology enables companies to use the energy that is available readily around the device. This energy can be in the form of light, movement, heat or even radio waves. The company has translated its leading technology position in ‘low-power energy harvesting’ technology into a small chip, which is used in a wide range of devices. The startup Nowi started researching the problem and found that IoT devices use sensors that are dormant for long periods of time.

skoon

Skoon Energy (Rotterdam)

Founders: Peter Paul van Voorst tot Voorst, Daan Geldermans

Why its hot: Rotterdam-based Skoon Energy aims to accelerate the energy transition by setting up a network of versatile swappable batteries, to share, rent and lease. It wants to build a trusted community marketplace for businesses to offer, discover, and book energy storage for mobile and temporary applications.
