Travelling by car or bike, staying in hotels for bed and breakfast is a good way of exploring a place. But you know what’s cool? Renting a camper van or an RV (Recreational Vehicle), travelling the country, experiencing the thrill of the open road and the comforts of home. With the increasing growth of rental companies, R.V. travel has become more famous, accessible and appealing.

RV offers tons of benefits including freedom, flexibility, immersion in nature and much more. Having said that, there are lots of platforms available across the globe to either rent or buy the RV. One such platform is Berlin-based PaulCamper.

PaulCamper secures €7M

Claiming to be Europe’s largest and most trusted RV rental marketplace, PaulCamper has scooped up €7 million funding in a Series A round led by Adevinta with participation from FJ Labs, All Iron Ventures, Russmedia International and Mairdumont Ventures.

The RV platform based out of Berlin is planning to utilise this fund to expand operations and its business reach in Europe and further develop the platform.

Dirk Fehse, PaulCamper founder, said:

Our vision and mission is to enable people to spend time in the outdoors, made easy and safe. With the capital and expertise of our international investors we will tackle our goal of market expansion, further emotionalizing our product, and consolidating our leading position in our home market Germany.

All you need to know about PaulCamper!

Founded by Dirk Fehse, and Franziska Schulz, PaulCamper currently has a fleet of more than 5500 of RV’s including camper vans, box vans, alcoves, and semi- and fully-integrated caravans in Germany, Austria, and the Netherlands.

The essence and idea behind PaulCamper were born out of the true passion for travel, people, and nature. On the other hand, RV owners get a safe and secure way to rent out their vehicles, so they can make money and earn a second extra income. Furthermore, outdoor travelers can rent individual RVs all over the country to hit the road and drive into their next outdoor adventure.

Jussi Lystimäki, VP of ventures at lead investor Adevinta, said:

PaulCamper operates in a very exciting and fast-growing market: the outdoor travel market.

With investments in 16 countries throughout Europe, Latin America and North Africa, Norwegian investor Adevinta will contribute its experience in the development and expansion of digital marketplaces.

Having said that, this RV platform faces stiff competition from the likes of ShareACamper, Yescapa from France, which is also active in Germany, and GoBoony and Camptoo in the Netherlands.
