Perpetual Next is a climate tech company that aims to reduce climate change by upgrading organic waste streams to valuable raw materials and products for sustainable use.
The Amsterdam company does this by reusing residual flows and upgrading organic residual flows into high-quality raw materials and products while contributing to the circular economy.
The UN Sustainable Development Goals, the ESG standards, and the EU Green Deal are part of Perpetual Next’s goal. The company’s production facilities are in the Netherlands, Belgium, the UK, and Estonia.
The Dutch company raised €320M in a Series A round of funding in June this year. Currently, the company is hiring for five positions.

Funding in 2022: €75M
Fastned aims to accelerate the transition to electric mobility by giving freedom to electric drivers. The company develops a fast-charging infrastructure for electric vehicles across Europe.
The Amsterdam startup owns and operates a network of 215 electric vehicle charging stations in the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, the UK, and Belgium.
The majority of its stations are located in Dutch highway rest areas. The company’s fast-charging infrastructure helps drivers charge their EVs up to 300 km of range in 15 minutes.

Greener Power Solutions

Funding in 2022: €45M
Green Power Solutions provides mobile batteries with their software for leasing to industries such as construction, grid reinforcement, events, and EV charging.
The Amsterdam company aims to improve the effectiveness and sustainability of energy solutions for on- and off-grid projects by renting out batteries.
Greener has built its planning, monitoring, and EMS software to optimise power supply. Greener’s fleet comprises 60 batteries with a total capacity of 20 MWh.

Amsterdam-based econic aims to make sustainable e-homes available for everyone through its strategic alliances and digital platform. According to the Dutch startup, the e-home is packed with sustainable heat and energy systems.
The company helps install the equipment, including heat pumps, solar panels, batteries, and charging points, while offering the choice between purchasing or leasing the equipment.
econic monitors the system and ensures a comfortable indoor climate at the lowest possible energy consumption. Recently, the company raised €125M in a fresh round of funding to accelerate the energy transition in the Netherlands and Germany.

Funds raised in 2022: €3M
Sympower aims to accelerate the global transition towards net zero by helping build smarter and cleaner renewable energy systems. The company balances the supply and demand of power across international energy grids using its in-house developed software platform.
This year, the Amsterdam company became a certified B Corp, which shows that the company is meeting high standards of verified performance, accountability, and transparency across five impact areas – governance, workers, community, environment, and customers.
In November, Sympower raised €3M in funding led by Activate Capital. In June, the company had raised €22M in a fresh round of funding.

Fund raised in 2022: €12.5M
Thorizon is a spin-off of the Nuclear Research and Consultancy Group (NRG), which operates the High Flux Reactor in Petten.
The Amsterdam company is dedicated to advancing the creation of next-generation nuclear reactors and positively impacting current energy problems. It aims to create a dependable nuclear reactor that uses fuel effectively, reduces radioactive waste, and doesn’t produce CO2, while operating to keep the earth clean.
In August, Thorizon raised €12.5M in a fresh round led by Positron Ventures to develop a new generation of nuclear power plants.

Fund raised in 2022: €2.2M
Woon Duurzaam provides a one-stop-shop cloud platform that clarifies the home renovation business for consumers. It connects customers requiring a sustainable home with energy-saving and generating equipment suppliers and high-quality installers.

Fundraised in 2022: €5M
ETPA (Energy Trading Platform Amsterdam) offers a trading platform that allows suppliers and consumers to make optimal use of energy peaks and troughs, and facilitates a fair market price for all participants in the energy market.
As participants can trade on the platform themselves, or through a third party, the platform offers more certainty about the agreed price, the delivery period, and the energy supply.
In July, the Amsterdam company raised €5M from SET Ventures and ABN AMRO Ventures.

Quatt designs AI-powered smart hybrid heat pumps to accelerate the decrease of gas consumption and the transition to fossil-free heating.
The company’s first product is Quatt Hybrid, a smart, all-electric-ready hybrid heat pump for the Dutch market, that can save up to 80 per cent of the gas bill compared to a central heating boiler.
Quatt says the hybrid heat pump is controlled by self-learning software. With a shortened chain and efficient installations, Quatt offers an average price of 30-50 per cent lower than traditional hybrid heat pumps.
