Orderli, an Amsterdam startup that offers a digital menu for restaurants, has acquired guest registration app mycapa.city for a symbolic amount of €1. The acquisition comes two weeks after Orderli securing funding from venture capitalist Y Combinator.

With this move, Orderli aims to cement its position in the Netherlands and expand its offering to other markets. Orderli will maintain and develop mycapa.city’s software and take care of its customers.

Mycapa.city: What you need to know

Founded by Thomas Vles and Farbod Saraf in 2020, Mycapa.city is a free web app that offers catering businesses the opportunity to get the maximum occupancy out of their business following legal guidelines.

The app prevents extra interaction at the door and allows users to scan the free capacity of a bar or cafe on site and make a reservation immediately. Within just a few months, the company witnessed massive growth with more than 650 locations and processing more than 40,000 visitors.

“Thanks to this acquisition, we can help even more catering and people.” says Vles, initiator of mycapa.city. “Orderli has a broader range of services that help the hospitality industry and are the ideal partner to develop our software to develop further in the future,” he added.

Tableside ordering solution

Founded by Dorus van den Oord, Maurits Franken, and Sven van der Zee in 2019, Orderli helps restaurants, bars, and pubs deal efficiently with menu changes by digitising it and the tableside ordering process.

By scanning the QR code with a phone’s camera, guests can easily submit their order themselves, without having to download an app.

Recently, Orderli has processed €3M worth of orders for Dutch catering establishments. The startup has signed an exclusive partnership with Koninklijke Horeca Nederland, which promotes Orderli to its members.

“Mycapa.city’s customers have already experienced the convenience of QR codes and know how it works. Giving them the choice to make further use of the possibilities of QR codes is a logical and beautiful next step.” says Van den Oord, CEO of Orderli.
