ChatGPT, the AI chatbot developed by OpenAI, has become ubiquitous across the Internet’s vast landscape. With its ability to engage in meaningful conversations, ChatGPT has revolutionised the way people interact with AI technology.

And the AI chatbot continues to be in the headlines for various reasons.

ChatGPT for iOS, and Android coming soon

OpenAI on Thursday, May 19, announced the roll-out of the ChatGPT app on the iOS platform. The app is free to use and syncs history across devices.

Subscribers to the ChatGPT Plus service will get exclusive privileges, such as access to the advanced capabilities of GPT-4, early access to features, and faster response times, all on iOS.

Currently, OpenAI is rolling out the app in the US and will expand to additional countries in the coming weeks.

The company has promised to roll out the app for the Android platform soon.

Web browsing and Plugins are now rolling out in beta

OpenAI recently introduced another exciting enhancement to ChatGPT.

We’re rolling out web browsing and Plugins to all ChatGPT Plus users over the next week! Moving from alpha to beta, they allow ChatGPT to access the internet and to use 70+ third-party plugins. https://t.co/t4syFUj0fL pic.twitter.com/Mw9FMpKq91

The latest iteration, GPT-4, now possesses the ability to access the internet.

This update enables GPT-4 to leverage more than 70 third-party browser plugins, expanding the range of functionalities available to users.

However, these improvements are exclusively accessible to subscribers of ChatGPT Plus, a monthly subscription plan priced at $20.

By incorporating internet access, OpenAI has elevated the capabilities of the AI chatbot, offering users an enhanced and more versatile conversational AI experience.

OpenAI will be making these features accessible via a new beta panel under settings, which is rolling out to all Plus users over the next week.

Once the beta panel rolls out to you, you’ll be able to try two new features:

  • Web browsing: You can try a new version of ChatGPT that knows when and how to browse the internet to answer questions about recent topics and events.
  • Plugins: You can try a new version of ChatGPT that knows when and how to use third-party plugins that you enable.

To use third-party plugins, follow these instructions:

  • Navigate to https://chat.openai.com/
  • Select “Plugins” from the model switcher
  • In the “Plugins” dropdown, click “Plugin Store” to install and enable new plugins

To enable beta features:

  • Click on ‘Profile & Settings’
  • Select ‘Beta features’
  • Toggle on the features you’d like to try
