Flinders, Amsterdam-based online furniture e-commerce startup store has announced that it has achieved a turnover of €20 million in 2018, a growth of 30% compared to last year.
According to the company, this growth came from all channels including online, physical store and B2B sales. Furthermore, other factors contributed to the growth were the expansion of the range in the category sustainable and refurbished design and growth outside the Netherlands.
In 2019, the company will be focusing on developing its own identity by launching a private label with its own products and brands. Flinders also aims to inspire and surprise its customers with exclusive furniture and limited editions of collaborative design labels.
At the end of 2018 Flinders invested in an expansion of the account team with which it can carry out interior projects in hospitality, retail and office. Recently a design studio in Ghent was opened to also serve the Belgian project market. From there, the store will serve Belgian architects, stylists and business end customers.
Founded in January 2011, this Amsterdam based company is on a mission to make design accessible to everyone. With that being said, the company has a webshop, a residential shop in Zaandam, a design studio in Ghent and a café in Groningen. It has 106 employees currently work at the company.
Geert-Jan Smits, CEO of Flinders:
The past year we have grown through our largest channel, online, but also with the physical store in Zaandam and the project department. With the input of our customers, we want to come up with unique furniture, lighting and home accessories. It concerns products that we produce together with our suppliers in limited editions. With this, we can print a Flinders stamp on the furniture market and develop more identity. This is necessary in order to survive in the housing sector.
