Munich-based Global Savings Group acquires London-based money saving browser extension startup Pouch

London-based shopping tool and browser extension startup Pouch has been taken over by Global Savings Group. Pouch offers the best voucher codes across ecommerce platforms for buyers. The sum of acquirement is not been disclosed by either party.

Pouch co-founder Jonny Plein stated: “We know how frustrating it can be to spend ages looking for voucher codes and never knowing if you got the best deal. Pouch allows our users to shop with the confidence that they are always getting the biggest saving, without wasting time searching for deals across the internet. We are incredibly excited to join the Global Savings Group family and continue to improve our products and build new tools that help people save time and money when shopping online.”

Global Savings Group is a PubTech platform for commerce content that enables world’s leading publishers to generate revenues by offering recommendations, deals and discounts to consumers. The company assists buyers from more than 20 countries spawning a reach of millions of target consumers for the advertisers.

Headquartered in Munich, Global Savings Group was founded in 2012 by Adrian Renner, Andreas Fruth and Gerhard Trautmann. With team strength over 400, the company channels more than 1.5 million purchases every month. It raised €35.2 million in funding from Rocket Internet, Holtzbrinck Ventures, ru-net, New Enterprise Associates, Silicon Valley Bank and Deutsche Bank. In 2016, the company changed its name from CupoNation Group to Global Savings Group.

Pouch was established in 2015 by Ben Corrigan, Jonny Plein and Vikram Simha. The platform saves time and money of customers by delivering the best deals scrutinising more than 3000 e-commerce websites including Amazon, ebay, GoDaddy, Dominos and Goldsmiths. The startup has earned credibility in the ecommerce arena and has been featured in BBC Dragons’ Den, Forbes, Independent and Daily Mail.

Regarding the acquirement, Co-founder and Managing Director of Global Savings Group, Gerhard Trautmann expressed: “The team at Pouch will make an excellent addition to our fast-growing team of 400+ tech enthusiasts, and we look forward to improving the Pouch proposition as well as incorporating their fantastic technology as part of our white label offering for our publishers.”
