Matthey’s term ends on December 31, 2024, concluding a decade of contributions to Adyen. The company plans to conduct a thorough search, considering both internal and external candidates, to find a suitable successor.
Alexander Matthey, Adyen’s current CTO says, “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Adyen and know that the company is only at the outset of what it can achieve.”
“However, balancing leading Adyen based out of Amsterdam and the company’s many global offices with my family life in Berlin has driven my decision to not commit for another four years.”
Who is Alexander Matthey?
Matthey joined Adyen in 2015 from Glossybox, where he served as CTO. Currently, he serves as the Chief Technology Officer at Adyen. Before assuming this role, he held positions as VP of Integrations and later as EVP of Technology at Adyen’s Berlin office.
Prior to joining Adyen, Matthey gained experience as the CTO and Vice-President at GlossyBox, a Rocket Internet-backed company.
As Glossybox’s CTO, he led a skilled team in addressing development challenges and overseeing product management and DevOps. He also claims to implement agile methodologies and integration processes for improved efficiency.
As Adyen’s CTO, Matthey leads the global team in building a unique financial technology platform that integrates payments, data, and financial products in a single codebase.
Pieter van der Does, co-founder and co-CEO of Adyen says, “Throughout his career at Adyen, Alexander held various leadership roles wherein he made substantial contributions to how we have scaled our engineering teams, our technology, and Adyen as a whole.”
“While summing up all of his contributions, we can proudly look back at all the impact he made,” adds Van der Does.
