The holiday season is here! Things can get a little crazy! It’s a time for some celebration, laughter, presents and travelling. If you’re in Amsterdam or in the Netherlands, here we have come up with a list of local Dutch startups which could help you in food, conveyance, and finding your desired locations. Take a look!

#1 Rent out bicycle this holiday season through ‘Swapfiets‘

Founded by Richard Burger, Martijn Obers and Dirk de Bruijn, Swapfiets is one of the very few startups that rents out bicycle on a subscription basis where you receive a decent bike for a specified monthly amount. In fact, the company launched its app on the Android and iOS platform with a slew of features.

With this app, customers can schedule an appointment within 20 seconds to have their bicycle repaired at home or in the store. If your bicycle is broken or stolen, you can schedule ‘swap’ in the app itself within five taps. Also, users can identify the route to the nearest store where they can go with their cycling problems.

#2 Split the bill with friends via ‘Tikkie‘

Are you and your friends are going out for a party or some Dutch Christmas dinner? You can split the bill with your friends via Tikkie. This free app is mostly used to share party, dinner, festival bills and much more. Recently, they have rolled out new features like super fast payments and money transfers. With this, the payment app is all set to offer easy transfer of money to its more than 3 million users, regardless of whether they know the IBAN number or not.

#3 Be a good citizen and opt for ‘SnappCar‘

If driving is not a problem for you, pick a SnappCar instead of Uber, it’s cheaper! Founded by Pascal Ontijd and Victor van Tol, SnappCar is a peer-to-peer carsharing community currently operating in The Netherlands, Sweden and Denmark. They aim to decrease the total number of cars in Europe by sharing the cars they already own. SnappCar has raised a total of €16.2M in funding over 10 rounds.

#4 Don’t wait, use ‘Tiqets‘ to get your tickets

Based out of Amsterdam, Tiqets is a creative ticketing platform that’s revolutionizing the way visitors find, buy, and use tickets for museums, shows, and attractions. Founded by Christiaan Solcer, Luuc Elzinga, Maarten Raaijmakers, Marijn Speelman, and Robert Westers, this startup aims to make it easy for savvy travellers to get into the world’s best museums and attractions.

#5 Plann your trip  with ‘Polarsteps’

This mobile travel app helps you to plan, track and share your journeys in an easy way. Polarsteps app automatically keeps track of your route in case if you don’t have an Internet connection while you are on the move. With that being said, once connected to the internet, the app seamlessly transfers travel routes, key locations and photos to your Polarsteps page, where your route is plotted on a colourful world map.

#6 Avoid traffic and stress, use ‘Flitsmeister’

Based out of Veenendaal, Flitsmeister is a mobile application that helps users get up to date traffic information. More importantly, this app provides information about mobile speed cams, fixed speed traps and traffic jams. Flitsmeister is available on all major app platforms and provides Floating Car Data and cover more than 25% of the big raw data available in the Netherlands.

#7 Reduce travel cost by using ‘Urbee’

The Amsterdam e-bike platform offers electric and environmentally friendly bikes. Urbee aims to contribute to a more livable city, make happier and healthier citizens, and reduce travel costs at the same time. The bicycle is the fastest way of transportation in the city centre, according to Urbee.

#8 Whizz through the city using ‘Felyx’ e-scooter

Founded by Maarten Poot and Quinten Selhorst, Felyx offers shared electric scooters as urban transportation. Through an app, customers can “rent” e-scooters per minute and get around urban areas quickly. In addition to it, felyx’ e-scooters are available for one-way trips and can be parked anywhere within the designated area.

#9 Get your dinner through ‘thuisbezorgd’

Ordering food online with your smartphone using the Thuisbezorgd.nl app is super easy now. This app lets you order the best dishes from thousands of restaurants across the Netherlands, including Domino’s Pizza, New York Pizza, Subway, Wok2Go, Febo, Bezorgbeer and many more.

#10 Creating best online maps is easy now with ‘Wizzymaps’

Wizzymaps let you create the best online maps for specific locations and products. Moreover, it provides your customer and visitor with in-depth information about the same. Wizzymaps is a web app and required Internet connections as well.
