It can be difficult for a startup that relies on subscriptions and/or billing to generate revenue and keep track of everything. Additionally, if the infrastructure handling this isn’t adept to scaling up, it can cause a hindrance and increase costs. In order to help companies with subscription management and recurring billing, India-based startup Chargebee provides Saas solutions for high-growth subscription-based business. The company has announced the expansion of its operations to Europe and here’s how it plans to get ahead of the competition and disrupt the invoicing industry with its offerings.

Chargebee’s expansion to Europe

The Saas subscription and recurring billing solutions provider Chargebee has announced the opening of its European Headquarters in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. With its European headquarters in Amsterdam, the company aims for better opportunities for growth and providing service across Europe. Chargebee’s European operations will be led by the company’s VP of Sales, Germain Brion, and the startup’s new base is expected to create about 75 positions within its Marketing, Sales and Support sections during the next few years.

“Europe represents the fastest growing proportion of our business,” said Krish Subramanian, co-Founder and CEO, Chargebee. “With its central location and highly-educated, multilingual workforce, Amsterdam is the ideal location to serve and support our European customer base and prospects.”

How Chargebee differentiates itself from other online invoicing software startups in Europe?

While most Saas based companies have products that are rigid in their approach, Chargebee is highly flexible with its offerings. Krish Subramanian, Co-Founder & CEO of Chargebee, says, “Invoicing software, typically has been created to support customers in specific verticals or focused online shopping with catalogs, shopping carts and checkout mechanisms. There are few companies today who have purpose-built a recurring billing and subscription management platform which have the flexibility to support an ‘Out of the Box’ configuration as well as APIs to build highly integrated and customer workflows.”

In addition to this, the company also offers customers to select additional software components like CRM, Accounting, MarTech SaaS, among others, which can be integrated to create customised workflows for customers and also automate internal processes to scale companies faster.

How the startup plans to beat the competition?

Chargebee has a plethora of Saas based services to offer its customers and it says it’s intensely focused on delighting its customers and solving their needs. In Addition, the ease of use and high functionality of its offering is expected to attract customers. The company offers a plug-and-play solution to enable a ‘frictionless’ subscription experience, all without the need to code or program.

Businesses that are ready to scale can leverage Chargebee’s REST API to customize billing workflows. The company’s offerings can also be integrated with payment gateways such as Adyen, Paypal, and Stripe, along with business applications like Quickbooks, Salesforce and Xero. “The flexibility of the platform along with the ease of implementation has allowed building a roster of customers across Europe from startups to household brand names,” says Germain Brion.

Funding details

Chargebee is backed by Accel Partners, Tiger Global and Insight Venture Partners. It raised €15.9 million during its Series C round of funding, in 2018, which was led by Insight Venture Partners. Overall, the company has raised a total of €21.4 million in funding over four rounds.
