Paris-based laundry delivery startup Lavoir Moderne has taken an endeavour towards a clean and green world by eliminating the age-old practice of using carcinogenic Perchlorethylene. The startup has just undergone a fund infusion of €5 million from private financers.
Lavoir Moderne – eco-friendly dry-cleaning solution
Started in 2014, Lavoir Moderne is committed to delivering environment-friendly laundry service in an economic manner. Users can order pickup for unclean clothes through the app and the clothes are picked up with 30 minutes anywhere in Paris.
Clothes are cleaned by means of high-tech machines without using any harmful chemical. Further, the clean clothes are delivered again within 30 minutes of scheduling at users’ home. Notably, the pickup and delivery of clothes are done using electric scooters – a step towards green earth.
Lavoir Moderne offers a range of cleaning plans depending upon the needs of users. It charges just €1.50 per shirt or €2.5 per kg linen for ‘Essential’ cleaning while prices gradually rise for ‘Classical’ and ‘Traditional’ cleaning.
Lavoir Moderne co-founders Alphadio Olory-Togbé and Pierre-Henri Canonne expressed, “Whatever the economic or political context, people will continue to iron their shirts. Offering this service twice as cheap as the market, with more service and better margins is our main asset.”
Aspires to launch in London and Berlin
Lavoir Moderne is aiming to raise another €20 million in the year 2019 itself. The startup is going to open a new workshop in March this year while starting the construction of another one scheduled to be functional in 2020, is also in the pipeline.
These new plants will enable Lavoir Moderne to expand operations in the suburbs of Paris. Further, in the coming years, the startup will break into other European markets starting with London and Berlin.
