Sentryo, a French industrial internet cybersecurity specialist recently raised €10 million in Series A fundraising. In fact, the round was raised in two stages with four new investors: Sopra Steria and BNP Paribas Development in the first half of 2018 and Omnes and Alliance Entreprendre in November 2018.
Investors from the first seed round also participated in this series: Breed Reply, ACE Management and Kreaxi. With that being said, Sentryo has raised €13 million till date. With this funding, Sentryo plans to step up development at the international market and double its workforce by the end of 2020 to develop and deploy its intrusion detection technology on industrial networks.
Joined EIT Digital Challenge in 2014
Founded by Laurent Hausermann and Thierry RouquetIt, Sentryo joined Europe’s leading accelerator, EIT Digital, after winning the EIT Digital Challenge 2014 in the Digital Infrastructure category.
Named ‘Cool Vendor’ by Gartner
Headquartered in Charbonnières-Les-Bains in France, Sentryo has also been named in 2018 as “Cool Vendors in Industrial IoT and OT Security, 2018” by Gartner, Inc.
According to Gartner analysts Saniye Burcu Alaybeyi, Wam Voster, et al., “Gartner’s 2018 Cool Vendors in industrial IoT and OT security bring notable approaches to protecting converging IT/OT for critical infrastructure ecosystems. Security and risk management leaders should consider these offerings as leading indicators of emerging priorities in industrial IoT.”
Sentryo: What else?
Started in 2014, Sentryo develops and provides cybersecurity and situation awareness solutions to industrial networks and the Internet of Things. Its solutions enable industrial engineers to prevent and detect cyber attacks.
Furthermore, Sentryo’s ICS CyberVision award-winning platform gives control engineers comprehensive visibility on their industrial control systems, detects anomalies and accelerates response to cybersecurity incidents keeping them ahead of cyber threats.
Sentryo’s ICS CyberVision is used every day by large corporations in the energy, manufacturing and transportation markets. It also has a worldwide presence including offices and partners in Europe, North and South America, Middle-East and Asia.
Operational Technology (OT) is not far off
Operational Technology (OT) cybersecurity is a fast-growing market. Organisations are connecting their control systems to the world as they are leveraging digitalisation to transform their industrial operations, but they have not been designed to handle cyber-attacks. As they are increasing their exposure to cyber risk, they must gain in-depth visibility on what’s going on, track anomalies to mitigate risks and detect critical events.
Daniel Michel, Head of Access to Finance at EIT Digital, said:
Since the beginning, EIT Digital had understood the very high potential of Sentryo. Corporates are facing huge challenges regarding their cybersecurity infrastructures. Sentryo delivers an operational security capacity to prevent, detect and respond to cyber-attacks. When they joined our accelerator, they wanted to become a French-German scale-up. We helped them secure their first fundraising and scale Europe wide.
