Snappcar op €9,3 miljoen gewaardeerd na investering en Deense overname

De Nederlandse startup Snappcar heeft het Deense autodeelplatform Minbildinbil.dk overgenomen. Door de overname is het voor particulieren niet alleen in Nederland, maar ook in Denemarken mogelijk om via de Utrechtse startup de eigen auto te verhuren aan vreemden. Om de overname te bekostigen, heeft Snappcar een nieuwe investeerder gevonden in het Deense Founders A/S.

Snappcar op €9,3 miljoen gewaardeerd

Voor welk bedrag Snappcar zijn Deense concurrent heeft overgekocht, wil de startup niet bekend maken. Ook het bedrag dat de nieuwe investeerder in de startup steekt, blijft een geheim. Founders A/S is een investeerder in jonge technologiebedrijven die complexe maatschappelijke problemen oplossen. Wel wil een woordvoerder van Snappcar kwijt dat na de investering en overname de startup is gewaardeerd op € 9,3 miljoen. De investering van Founders A/S volgt op een eerdere funding van duurzaam investeringsfonds PYMWYMIC en een crowdfundronde die €560.125 opleverde.

Mijn auto, jouw auto

Met de overname van Minbildinbil – wat overigens Deens is voor ‘mijn auto, jouw auto’ – bestaat de SnappCar community nu uit meer dan 100.000 deelnemers die met elkaar ruim 12.500 auto’s delen. Victor van Tol, medeoprichter van SnappCar, ziet in Denemarken veel mogelijkheid tot groei. “De Denen zijn open-minded en vooruitstrevend in mobiliteit. Ze zien de praktische en maatschappelijke voordelen van autodelen en bovendien is bewezen dat ze hun auto ook daadwerkelijk wíllen delen. Dat maakt deze markt strategisch zeer interessant voor ons.”

250.000 auto’s delen

Het doel van Snappcar is om in het jaar 2018 zo’n 250.000 Europese auto’s via het eigen platform te delen. Om dat te bereiken richt de startup richt op stedelijke gebieden in Noordwest-Europa, zoals Kopenhagen in Denemarken en de Randstad in Nederland. Volgens het bedrijf zijn dit de gebieden met laag autobezit, de juiste mentaliteit van de inwoners en behoefte aan flexibele mobiliteitsoplossingen; de juiste voedingsbodem voor Snappcar om in te groeien. Met de overname van Minbildinbil hoort het Utrechtse Snappcar naar eigen zeggen bij de top 3 van grootste autodeelnetwerken ter wereld.
