Antwerp-based NON.energy, a company in sustainable energy technologies, announced that it has secured €1.15M in fresh funding from Birdhouse Ventures and six notable business angels.
The funds will help the company to advance its “revolutionary” vision for energy consumption.
Sustainable technologies “as a service”
Founded in 2022 by Bastiaan Benoit and Roel Vaneeckhout, NON.energy claims to stand out in the heat pump and geothermal drilling market, offering a subscription-based model that prioritises service and “high-quality” hardware over ownership.
Through this approach, customers can reduce their electricity consumption with a fixed monthly subscription.
According to NON.energy, its advanced service component ensures optimal operation of heat pumps remotely. This not only enhances efficiency but also provides accurate and measurable results.
NON.energy has also been chosen as a key partner in the ‘Left Bank Climate Neutral’ initiative by the city of Antwerp. Here, they actively engage with and support diverse communities in transitioning towards sustainable energy solutions.
The company says, “We want to accelerate the energy transition by making it feasible and worry-free for everyone. We do this by offering heat pumps, geothermal energy and other sustainable technologies “as a service” and setting up a continuous partnership with our customers in which we smartly monitor and control these devices throughout the energy transition.”
Following a series of successful projects, including a collaboration with construction developer IPON on a 160-unit project, NON.energy now aims to expand its technology across the wider Belgian market.
