Doctolib is a French healthtech startup which offers a software solution to doctors and hospitals. It is basically a doctor appointment booking app which comes with an entire range of services that helps refine and improve the efficiency of medical operations.
Founded in 2013 by Stanislas Niox-Chateau, Jessy Bernal and Ivan Schneider in Paris, the startup also provides a suite of online services helping doctors reduce the number of no-shows, lessen the overhead costs and let patients find and book healthcare services 24/7. Further, it also helps to get remote video consultations and access digital prescriptions via online.
Secures €150M funding
Now, the French healthtech startup has secured €150 million funding led by global growth equity firm General Atlantic along with participation from existing investors such as Accel, Kernel, Eurazeo and Bpifrance. Several German healthcare entrepreneurs also took part in the funding round. With this funding, Doctolib’s valuation surpasses €1 billion, making it one of the latest unicorns in the French business ecosystem.
As of now, Doctolib employs 750 staff in 40 cities in France and Germany and collaborates with 75,000 physicians across 1,400 healthcare facilities. It has gained 30 million visits from patients every month. This new capital will be used to accelerate its growth in both France and Germany, promote the adoption of telehealth solutions, development of its product portfolio and global expansion as well.

Its software solution will help save time for the professionals by reducing administrative time, minimising no-shows and optimising consultation activity.

Doctolib facilitates improved patient care by reducing wait times to book an appointment and 24/7 online appointment scheduling. It also ensures to offer a faster care for those facing an emergency situation. Moreover, patients can access their information pertaining to their health at anytime and share the documents with the team in a single click via Doctolib’s solution.
Becomes Europe’s next unicorn!
With the latest funding, the healthtech company has got a valuation of over €1 billion and has grown to become Europe’s newest unicorn.
It also believes that health-related data is an exclusive property that should be accessible only to the patients and the healthcare practitioners using the platform. Doctolib team does no access to this data. This is possible as the firm uses two hosts to store the data of users and these are approved by the Ministry of Health ‘Authorised Hosting of Health Data’.
Guarantees confidentiality of data
The health data of the Doctolib users are encrypted and stored as per the recommendations of the National Council of the Order of Physicians and other bodies for health professionals. So, the confidentiality of data is guaranteed by the firm.
Adheres to ethics
Doctolib respects the code of ethics of the profession. It follows ‘zero advertising, zero reviews’ strategy. There is no advertising anywhere on the platform and users cannot share reviews of healthcare professionals publicly. All healthcare professionals using the platform are treated impartially as per the code of ethics framed by the ordinal bodies.
