Paris-based Pimento, a startup using generative AI to amplify creativity, has secured €3M in seed round funding and recently launched its beta version.
The company plans to use the funds to enhance its interface and develop models specifically designed for the creative process, surpassing the limitations of generic solutions currently in existence.
Investors supporting Pimento
The investment came from Partech, Cygni Capital and various business angels.
The angel investors include Julien Chaumond (Hugging Face), Stanislas Polu (Dust), Thibaud Elzière (Hexa), Jean-Charles Samuelian (Alan), Igor Manceau (creative director, ex-Ubisoft), Jonathan Widawski (Maze), Alessandro Sabatelli (ex-Apple) and Nicolas Steegmann (ex-Stupeflix).
An AI-powered creativity companion
Founded in October 2022, Pimento uses generative AI to address common challenges faced by creative teams.
The platform claims to facilitate a streamlined transition from project briefs to creative directions, overcoming hurdles in defining projects and fostering efficient team iteration. Its interface fosters collaboration, allowing for numerous creative iterations.
Already adopted by art directors, agencies, animation studios, and marketing teams, Pimento is making waves in diverse projects, including branding, animation movies, and advertising campaigns.
Co-founder Florent Facq says, “Being creative is not just about generating an image; it’s about creating a coherent and relevant universe, defining clear and powerful aesthetic intentions. Current generative AI models don’t meet these challenges. We need to push technology and interfaces even further.”
Co-founder Tomás Yany adds, “Pimento ignites the true spirit of the creative work: curating, guiding, selecting. More than ever, the trained and professional judgment of creative people is crucial for ensuring coherence and relevance. AI brings out the best of them.”
Brief about the founders
Pimento’s founders, Florent Facq and Tomás Yany, bonded over creativity and technology at Ecole Polytechnique in Paris.
Before launching Pimento in 2022, Facq developed Pass Culture, benefiting millions of young French users, while Yany worked as an AI researcher at Apple US and later as a technical lead at Nabla, an AI health startup in Paris.
