Prof. Lokke Moerel joins the Supervisory body of Amsterdam-based TIN Capital’s Dutch Security TechFund

Dutch Security TechFund, established in 2018 by Amsterdam’s VC firm TIN Capital, announces the appointment of Prof. Lokke Moerel to its Supervisory Board (‘Raad van Toezicht’). 

The Dutch Security TechFund focuses on investments in the cybersecurity sector. Prof. Moerel brings extensive experience in the fields of privacy and cybersecurity. Her addition supports the fund’s mission to strengthen governance and deepen domain expertise within its supervisory body.

With Prof. Moerel’s appointment, TIN Capital looks to support cybersecurity innovation in the Netherlands and Europe through expertise and governance.

Prof. Lokke Moerel is known for her work advising on the implementation of new technologies and digital business models, with a focus on global cyber incident response and digital threats. 

She has worked with tech companies on issues related to big data and artificial intelligence. She is also recognised for her knowledge of corporate governance in the context of digital change and its effects on businesses.

Lokke Moerel is Senior of Counsel at law firm Morrison Foerster, where she works in the global privacy and cyber defence team. She is also Professor of Global ICT Law at Tilburg University. 

In the Netherlands, she is a member of the Dutch Cyber Security Council and the Monitoring Committee for the Dutch Corporate Governance Code.

Lokke Moerel has been appointed to the Supervisory Board of the Dutch Security TechFund, filling the vacancy left by the passing of M&A lawyer Johan Kleyn in 2024. Her focus within the board will be on legal and compliance.

The Supervisory Board of the Dutch Security TechFund includes Hans Biesheuvel, who serves as Chair with a focus on entrepreneurship and investment, and Jaya Baloo, who focuses on technology. Baloo has held roles as CISO and CSO at KPN, Avast, and Rapid7, and is currently COO at an AI and cybersecurity startup.

Brief about TIN Capital

TIN Capital was founded in 1998 and focuses on cybersecurity investments in Europe. Since 2018, it has invested through the Dutch Security TechFund. 

In late 2023, TIN Capital launched the European Cyber Tech Fund V, with a final closing planned for this summer, including the European Investment Fund. The fund aims to invest in European cybersecurity companies at A/B rounds with scalable technologies, intellectual property, and potential for international growth. 

TIN Capital’s portfolio includes companies such as SignPath, Eye Security, BreachLock, EGERIE, and EclecticIQ.
