Germany-based Quantum Systems, an aerial data intelligence company, has announced that the Spanish Armed Forces have procured two systems from its Family of Systems—Vector and Twister.
This marks the first time a customer has adopted the full range of Quantum Systems’ Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities.
The deal!
The Spanish Armed Forces have entered into a framework agreement with Quantum Systems for the acquisition of 91 Vector systems, totalling 182 drones, to enhance their medium-range reconnaissance capabilities.
Initial deployment of the systems will take place with the Spanish Army and the Spanish Marine Infantry, with deliveries scheduled to begin in 2025.
Martin Karkour, Chief Sales Officer of Quantum Systems, says, “Spain will be at the forefront of the use of tactical aerial reconnaissance in Europe. The Spanish Armed Forces recognise that aerial intelligence is a strategic asset across service branches.”
“We are proud to support them with scalable, full-spectrum ISTAR solutions that enable faster, better-informed decision-making.”
The Spanish Armed Forces and Quantum Systems will provide more details on the Vector deployment and framework agreement at the International Defence & Security Exhibition (FEINDEF) from May 12 to 14 in Madrid.
At the same time, the Spanish Air Force has acquired several Twister systems, with options for more, to support short-range reconnaissance missions for specialised units. The procurement of both Twister and Vector will enable the Spanish Armed Forces to utilise Quantum Systems’ full approach for close- and mid-range ISTAR operations.
