Amsterdam-based ScanMovers, a fast-growing comparison platform, announced on Thursday that it has acquired Sydney-based Quot8 Holdings for an undisclosed amount.

Maurits Koopman and Boyan Nijpels founded ScanMovers, part of the Moveasy Group, at the end of 2016, and has been live since 2017. With two acquisitions in just over 18 months, the company has strengthened its active global presence to over 70 countries.

Aim of this acquisition

ScanMovers provides insight into the prices, reviews, and different service levels of movers. The company has developed into a marketplace for service providers and expats to discover relocation (related) services globally.

Co-founder Boyan Nijpels says, “This acquisition solidifies our position as a key global player in the moving market. At the same time demand for additional expat services have surged since Brexit and the pandemic from both our B2C and B2B customers.”

The platform is expanding its offering to include moving-related services like payrolling, which has sharply increased in demand as remote working becomes more common, immigration, short-term housing, and insurance.

Nijpels adds, “Our B2B customers underline the war for talent has forced them to find talent in other countries. Through our platform, we facilitate HR departments in everything they need for attracting and retaining top talent.”

About Quot8

Founded in 2014 in Australia, Quot8 claims to have become a leading comparison platform in the international moving industry. Its success enabled the company to purchase Unileads in early 2016. In 2022, the platform was used by over 150,000 users.

Quot8 runs several international websites, including ship-stuff.com and the-relocator.com.

Steven Mastwijk, founder of Quot8 and managing director of the company after the acquisition, points out that size matters in this business. Mastwijk says, “For innovation to be accepted by the traditional moving market, it’s important to operate at a global scale. The combined synergies of both platforms and increased scope of services will make it easier to cater to the quickly changing demands in the relocation sector worldwide.”
