Last update:

Zwijndrecht-based SDS Separation BV, a Dutch company specialising in end-to-end carbon capturing, has completed a Series A funding round of €2M.

Percival Participations, Invest-NL, and management participated in the financing round.

Bart Boogaard, investment manager at Invest-NL, says, “CO2 capture is essential for a carbon-neutral industry. Even in the long term, there will be industrial processes that we cannot fully electrify.”

“SDS Separation is developing an efficient and compact total solution for small to medium-sized industrial installations, where conventional technology is not applicable or profitable. That makes this investment strategic and socially relevant.”

Capital utilisation

SDS Separation claims to be a pioneer in Point Source Carbon Capture (PSCC) technology, a targeted method to prevent CO2 from entering the atmosphere by intercepting it at emission hotspots.

The funds will help the Dutch company to install initial systems at customer locations, expand production operations, and advance the technology for wider use. The investors plan to provide €3M in a follow-up round for rollout after the validation and pilot phase concludes within 1.5 years.

Albert van Pabst, CEO of SDS Separation, says, “This financing round enables us to industrialise our technology and roll out the first commercial installations. The strong interest from investors confirms the urgency and market potential of scalable solutions for small-scale CO2 sources.”

A CO2 capture solutions provider

SDS Separation develops and manufactures installations that capture pollutants, including CO2, from industrial sources emitting up to 100,000 tons of CO2 per year. The company targets small and medium-sized emitters that traditional capture solutions cannot reach.

Founded in 2018, SDS Separation offers modular, plug-and-play CO2 capture solutions that deliver performance at lower investment and operational costs. The systems serve chemical, food, pharmaceutical and waste processing industries with a focus on circular and biobased applications.

The modular approach provides flexibility in design and performance with minimal integration time, maintenance requirements and payback periods. The company combines technical expertise, R&D and partnerships to deliver technology and services.

SDS Separation provides CO2 capture solutions, including transport and reuse services that connect to existing and new installations. The company works to contribute to more efficient and climate-friendly industry operations.
