London-based Seedrs, a private investing platform and provider of equity crowdfunding services, announced on Tuesday that it is set to commence trading under the name “Republic Europe.”
“As we continue to evolve, our name may change, our colours may change, but we remain committed to empowering the most ambitious investors in Europe,” says the UK company.
Founded in 2012 by Jeff Lynn and Carlos Silva, Seedrs is an online investment platform that allows investors to buy and sell shares in private companies, and ambitious entrepreneurs to gain investment for their businesses while building communities in the process.
In 2022, Republic, a New York-based investment platform that backs startups, real estate, crypto, and video game businesses, acquired Seedrs for $100M (then, approx €88M).
What to expect moving forward?
Republic Europe will continue to enable individuals to invest in startups, growth companies, and leading VC funds (where eligible).
The platform will also support ambitious entrepreneurs in all sectors to raise capital from their communities, angels, and institutional investors.
According to the company, the rebranding will appear across the platform’s websites and communications. However, certain aspects of the Seedrs branding, such as the licensed name ‘Seedrs Limited’ and the ‘Seedrs Nominee’ investment infrastructure, will remain.
“As Republic Europe enters this latest chapter in its history, it is committed to ensuring that it continues to bring the best possible deals to you and the rest of its investor community,” says Seedrs in an email.
