Last update:

Amsterdam-based Soft Revolt, a lingerie brand, has secured over €1M in a fresh round of funding, partly through an investment from the Borski Fund.

The funds will help enhance the sustainability of the brand’s bras, expand the team, and provide more women with comfort and support.

Funding overview

The Borski Fund, dedicated to supporting female entrepreneurs, contributed nearly €800K, along with an angel investor, while a prior crowdfunding campaign involving primarily female investors added €300K. This brings Soft Revolt’s total funding to over €1M.

Simone Brummelhuis, partner at Borski Fund says, “Soft Revolt is redefining the future of lingerie with their innovative 3D-knitted bra, and we at Borski Fund, are honoured to support their vision.”

“Here we see the power of technology, the promise of sustainability, and the passion of female entrepreneurship converge.”

Capital utilisation

Soft Revolt will use the funds to further reduce the environmental footprint of its sustainable bras. The brand’s bralettes, crafted with a patented 3D knitting technique from a single piece, already have a minimal production residual.

Emitting only 2 kg CO2 per product (verified by tex.tracer), the brand aims to develop the world’s most sustainable bra.

The funds will also support team expansion and business growth, enabling Soft Revolt to offer comfort and support to more women in the Netherlands and across Europe.

Elles Roeleveld, founder of Soft Revolt says, “Providing women with the best product has always been our top priority, and we do it sustainably. Thus, sustainability never compromises the quality of our bras. It’s not for nothing that our mission is to help women. That’s one reason why the Borski Fund fits us so well: they share the same mission.”

Kim Bakker, co-owner of Soft Revolt adds, “We are excited to put Soft Revolt on the map both nationally and internationally together with the fantastic female entrepreneurs from the Borski Fund. This partner understands like no other the importance of a technological solution combined with commercial growth and sustainability.”

Brief about Soft Revolt

Founded in 2020 by Elles Roeleveld and Kim Bakker, Soft Revolt aims to redefine lingerie comfort while being gentle on both skin and nature.

It creates stylish, wire-free, and seamless bralettes with a sustainable twist. Produced from knitting machines as a single piece, they offer “extra comfort” with no residual material.

Since debuting its first bralette in 2020, Soft Revolt has assisted 20,000 women across 17 countries. The startup claims that its wireless, sustainable bralettes provide comfortable support, particularly for fuller cups.

The current range features two bralette models, with a third design in development. Responding to high demand, Soft Revolt plans to introduce bras in larger sizes soon.

The company says, “To reinvent the bra for the 21st century, we took inspiration from breakthrough technologies in the footwear industry. There, we saw major brands using 3D knitting technology to create breathable, sturdy and supportive shoes. So we adapted that technology to create underwired, seamless and highly supportive bras.”

“After many, many months of research and R&D, we discovered a way to combine innovative yarns with different stitches and machine tensions to provide the support women need, without any discomfort.”

“The technology for making this revolutionary product is based on three innovations that have been patented separately. Our first patent application was published as WO2022003090 and the other two are expected to be published in early 2023.”
