Last update:

Zurich-based Wingtra, a developer and manufacturer of professional mapping and surveying drones, has closed its Series B1 funding round. The amount, however, remains undisclosed. The Swiss company announced the investment via a LinkedIn post.

The round saw participation from a diverse group of US, Swiss, and Austrian funds and family offices, including Brick & Mortar Ventures, DiamondStream Partners, Cadence Growth Capital (CGC), EquityPitcher Ventures, Helvetic Trust, RKKVC, Spectrum Moonshot Fund, Spring Mountain Capital, SymbiaVC, among others.

According to Wingtra, this funding round further validates the global market potential of its drone solutions.

In March, the company raised $22M in a Series B round of funding to further expand its operations globally.

Drone for mapping and surveying

Founded in 2016 by Maximilian Boosfeld, Basil Weibel, Elias Kleimann and Sebastian Verling, Wingtra develops, produces and commercialises high-precision VTOL drones that collect survey-grade aerial data.

According to the company, its high-precision vertical take-off and landing drones are designed to deliver reliability and efficiency in capturing sharp imagery.

Wingtra’s aerial data solutions enhance productivity across industries such as construction, mining, urban planning, agriculture, and forestry.

These drones are now paired with end-to-end, “easy-to-integrate” software, offering professionals worldwide more efficient workflows and enabling smarter, safer decision-making.

It recently launched WingtraCLOUD, a software that aims to transform mapping by simplifying it into a single intuitive tech ecosystem. It enhances collaboration, boosts productivity, and provides insights with ease. This makes Wingtra’s solutions scalable within organisations, offering survey-grade, high-quality insights.

The company, in 2021, also launched a second-generation drone, the WingtraOne Gen II, that offers survey-grade 2D and 3D maps to assist users in making better choices with the data.

Currently, hundreds of organisations use this drone, including CEMEX, Rio Tinto, the Army Corps of Engineers, and the Kenya Red Cross.
