Amsterdam-based TAPP, a company that offers insight into the catering market, announced on Monday that it has launched a new product aimed at catering entrepreneurs.

The new platform compares sales data from the Dutch catering industry with individual business performances and offers bite-sized suggestions to improve range and pricing strategies.

TAPP is introducing a data-driven approach to the Dutch hospitality industry, which traditionally relied on entrepreneurs’ experience and intuition. This innovation enables catering entrepreneurs to access data-driven insights to improve their businesses.

The Amsterdam-based platform claims to be the first of its kind in the Dutch market, offering a solution for catering professionals to enhance their operations.

Substantiated, bite-sized insights

TAPP collaborated with Microsoft to develop an online platform for catering entrepreneurs. The platform analyses data from thousands of catering establishments in the Netherlands, identifying trends and insights related to product offerings and pricing.

Catering entrepreneurs can access bite-sized opportunities to improve their strategies, making it a valuable tool for continuous business enhancement.

The data is compared to a catering entrepreneur’s current performance to pinpoint areas for improvement. This analysis reveals insights like how their product range stacks up against competitors, which drinks are the most profitable, pricing comparisons, and potential additions to the menu.

The platform offers instant improvement suggestions, making it easy for entrepreneurs to adopt a data-driven approach. This helps entrepreneurs identify business opportunities, optimise their offerings, respond quickly to trends, and implement effective pricing strategies effortlessly.

Wibo Roest, CEO of TAPP, says, “Infinite opportunities on a tray. That is exactly what the new TAPP platform offers to catering entrepreneurs. By gaining insight into your own sales data and comparing this to the market-wide benchmark, you as a catering entrepreneur are sure of how your turnover is achieved and what opportunities there are for improvement.”

“In short: with our renewed platform, the entrepreneurship of catering entrepreneurs is supplemented with inspiration, control and more certainty in turnover growth,” adds Roest.

After conducting tests with existing customers, TAPP’s platform is now officially accessible to the entire Dutch hospitality industry.

Brief about TAPP

TAPP, founded in 2015 by Frans van Hoogstraten and Sjoerd Rothweiler, is on a mission to bring data-driven methods to catering professionals.

It began with a consumer app for payments and later developed the first Dutch digital platform in 2017, offering catering entrepreneurs insights into drink sales data to optimise their offerings and revenue.

Currently, over 3,400 catering businesses in the Netherlands use the TAPP platform, and the company aims to become a European leader in data-driven catering performance enhancement.

In June, the Amsterdam-based company secured €3M in a fresh round of funding. CNBB led a €2M funding and was supported by ROM InWest. An additional loan of €1M came from Rabobank.
