Groningen-based Teamy, a sports team attendance app, announced that it entered a new phase of growth at the end of 2024 by partnering with investor Chris Stam.

This collaboration has enhanced the app’s scalability and established a solid foundation for its international expansion.

Chris Stam’s expertise has played a crucial role in advancing the development of the platform and creating new commercial opportunities for the company.

Wander Evers, co-founder and platform designer at Teamy, says, “With Chris’s collaboration, we have refined our vision. Teamy’s free and accessible nature remains at the heart of what we do, ensuring that playing sports together via the app stays open to everyone.”

“At the same time, we’ve improved our subscription model for more active users, giving us a stronger financial base. This allows us to confidently work toward our international goals.”

Brief about Teamy

Teamy provides sports teams with an all-in-one platform for attendance tracking, schedule management, and team communication. Its interface has earned it the nickname “WhatsApp for team players”, making it a valuable tool for teams worldwide.

Teamy was founded in 2019/2020 by Jos Herbrink, Wander Evers, and Martijn Coevert. The platform has gained significant market share in the Netherlands and Belgium and is now available internationally.

It connects over 200,000 team players in the Netherlands and Belgium, with growing interest from Belgian organisations driving the platform’s expansion in this market.

To support this growth, Teamy plans to collaborate with a Flemish growth expert in 2025. Internationally, the app is also used by sports teams outside the Benelux, though on a smaller scale.

International ambitions

In 2025, Teamy will prioritise reinforcing its presence in the Netherlands and Belgium while planning for wider international growth.

Martijn Coevert, co-founder and developer of Teamy, says, “We’re entering a new phase. At the start of 2025, we’ll switch to React Native, making our software more efficient and flexible. This upgrade will not only improve user experience but also enhance our platform’s commercial potential.”

“It will help us launch new features faster and support our organic growth, making sports more accessible for everyone.”

In 2025, Teamy will launch a marketing campaign across multiple channels to enhance international visibility and drive organic growth.

“The potential is huge, and we’re ready to seize these opportunities and position Teamy as the go-to app for sports teams worldwide,” adds Coevert.
