Amsterdam-based Tebi, a startup that provides entrepreneurs the tools to better manage and grow their businesses, announced on Thursday, October 5, the first cash register platform to introduce Tap to Pay in the Netherlands.

Tap to Pay allows anyone with an iPhone X or newer to accept payments. According to Tebi, this simplifies the payment process for businesses and customers, enhancing convenience for both parties.

Tap to Pay is vital for entrepreneurs

Tebi’s co-founder Arnout Schuijff, who was also the co-founder and CTO of Adyen, emphasised that the Tap to Pay feature is vital for entrepreneurs, helping them reduce costs during challenging times.

Schuijff says, “Tebi strives to offer entrepreneurs the best choice at the best price. For them, the introduction of Tap to Pay means they no longer have to invest in a payment terminal to accept contactless payments. This is extremely useful for those who want to start a business but encounter high costs.”

On iPhone, Tebi offers a backup payment option for larger companies during terminal failures, internet outages, or peak hours. Entrepreneurs can use this feature for free until 2024 upon registration.

Starting in January, each Tap to Pay transaction will cost €0.06 in addition to Tebi Payments fees.

Brief about Tebi

Founded in 2020 by Arnout Schuijff, Greta Castellana, Rob Vonk, Thijs van Himbergen and Mazdak Nasori, Tebi provides an all-in-one platform for businesses, including cash register services, payments, inventory tracking, and QR orders.

The startup’s mission is to support global SMEs by offering high-quality tools at affordable rates, helping businesses save costs and time. Currently, Tebi comprises three components that are core to starting and running a business: Accounting backbone, Point of sale (POS) and Payments.

Tebi claims to stand out by avoiding lock-in contracts, hidden fees, or additional charges for features or devices. The startup plans to introduce more modules in the future to enhance its platform further.

The startup says, “The power of Tebi lies in its integrated nature: on top of a robust accounting engine we have built a cutting-edge point-of-sale system, real-time product and shift reporting, inventory management, and more, so say goodbye to countless integrations, APIs, or surcharge fees for extra features.”

“To boot, Tebi offers businesses some of the most competitively priced payment transaction fees available. The platform is built to meet our customers’ needs at any stage of growth, and lots of merchants are now choosing Tebi: the one-stop shop for business owners.”

Tebi’s Tap to Pay on iPhone enables businesses to accept payments from customers using Maestro debit cards, Visa/Mastercard debit & credit cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay, providing convenient payment options for both merchants and customers.
