Personalised food suggestion based on your DNA
Based out of London, this startup aims to nudge people towards a better lifestyle based on their DNA. Founded by Chris Toumazou and Maria Karvela in 2015, DnaNudge is the world’s first service to use your DNA to personalise nutrition and food recommendations.
It uses a wrist-worn DnaBand to scan product barcodes and discover whether a food product is “red” or “green” for you. If the product is indicated as “green,” you’re good to go. If the product is “red,” your DnaNudge App will display a range of personalised recommended alternatives. Before all that, you need to send a saliva sample to the company’s HQ in Covent Garden, London.
Bosch’s virtual visor with face recognition AI technology!
Technology continues to transform everything, and automobiles are no different. German company Bosch has replaced the traditional sun visor with a virtual visor based on face recognition AI technology, and it is incredible.
The virtual visor is made of a single transparent LCD panel and camera facing driver. It uses AI facial detection and tracking software to determine where the sun’s glare is hitting the driver’s face. Upon analysing, it uses liquid crystal technology to darken the section of the visor.
Lamp that helps people with dyslexia to read comfortably!
Lexilife, a French company that aims to improve the daily lives of people with dyslexia, has showcased a lamp for more comfortable reading with dyslexia. For people with dyslexia, both eyes send information to the brain, creating complex mirror image problems that make reading difficult.
As per the company claims, the Lexilife lamp emits pulses of light, which results in one eye to take precedence over the other. It is also proved to work with 90% of people as well.
Mash-up of bike and car powered by solar!
In an attempt to make commuting more efficient, the French startup Wello has come up with a mash-up of bike and car powered entirely by solar. This vehicle is pedal-assisted and designed for an adult rider either with another adult or two kids in the rear.
This hybrid vehicle can reach a top speed of 25 miles per hour and is protected by solar roofs. Notably, it is internet-connected, allowing fleet owners to track its location as well. Talking about the dimension, it is 7.4 feet in length and 2.7 feet in width. In terms of pricing, the Wello costs €7,000, which is merely cheaper than a budget new car.
Control anything in the digital world by using thoughts!
NextMind is a fast-growing tech startup specialising groundbreaking brain-computer interfaces, based on proven scientific research. During the CES 2020, the company has announced a $399 unique wearable that allows users to control anything in their digital world by using just their thoughts. It is the world’s first noninvasive, hands-free brain-computer interface for real-time interaction.
This wearable captures electrical brain signals from the user’s visual cortex, and by using machine learning algorithms, translates that output into direct digital commands for devices in real-time, all while hands-free. The small, round device fits into the back of a cap or headband and rests gently on the user’s head, or it can be used via AR/VR headset.
The company is working with TV and car manufacturer, possibly allowing users to change settings.
World’s first autonomous wheel!
This Norwegian startup Wheel.me wants to make rearranging furniture indoors possible only through voice command or the touch of an app’s button. As a result, the company has built robotic wheels, which can be attached to the base of chairs, tables, and other furnishings.
Unlock your door with coded smartphone flash!
Based out of France, the company called Havr has created BrightLock, the first smart lock that unlocks the door by recognising a pattern of light pulses fired from a smartphone’s flash. It’s worth mentioning that the light-based code can be shared with friends and family easily.
Toothbrush that cleans your mouth in 10 seconds!
FasTeesH, a French company, has debuted Y-Brush that automatically deep cleans your teeth the way dentists recommend (BASS) them to be cleaned in just 10 seconds using vibrating sonic technology. It features a mouth guard lined with nylon bristles on one side that can fit around your upper and lower rows of teeth.
All you need to do is fill it with toothpaste and keep the guard inside your mouth and chomp down for 5 seconds while it cleans. Then follow the device on the other teeth and rerun the whole process.
