In the coming years, we can see smart parking taking over the traditional system, which is tedious and time-consuming. #1 OnePark (Funding – €29.5 million)

Founded in 2014 by David Vanden Born and Gilles Latouche in Paris, OnePark makes it simple and easy for drivers by letting them reserve the parking space before they reach the desired location. It is a mobile app and online platform helping drivers book car parking space. Users can compare, pay and reserve the car parking space in advance, thereby saving a lot of time. Till date, this startup has raised €29.5 million funding from AccorHotels, Groupe ADP, Keolis and business angels Christophe Courtin and James Blouzard.

#2 JustPark (Funding – €7.6 million)

Founded in 2006 by Anthony Eskinazi in London, JustPark has over 500,000 drivers and over 100,000 parking spaces all over the UK. It is also in plans to expand to the global markets. JustPark lets owners of private venues to sell their parking space. This startup has raised €7.6 million from BMW i Ventures, Index Ventures, LocalGlobe and Crowdcube.

#3 AppyParking (Funding – €11.5 million)

AppyParking was established in 2013 by Dan Hubert in London. It is a kerbside management and smart parking solution lets users check for parking spaces via its app. It lets users check for parking spaces near their desired destination and charges them automatically on a per minute basis. It integrates technical capabilities such as automatic number plate recognition barriers, sensor-enabled payments and smart parking sensors. AppyParking was one of the 25 shining finalists that took part in the EIT Digital Challenge 2018. So far, it has secured €11.5 million funding from M12, Aviva Ventures, Microsoft Accelerator, Rosemont Group Capital Partners LLC, Freddie Achom, Jason Ballard and Breed Reply.

#4 ParkBee (Funding – €6.9 million)

ParkBee based in the Netherlands was founded in 2014 by Jian Jiang and Tom Buchmann. This Dutch startup is an alumni from Yes!Delft tech incubator. The technology of this startup lets users access the parking locations via apps such as Park-line and Parkmobile. This startup has raised overall funding of €6.9 million from Horizon 2020 SME instrument, InnovationQuarter and Statkraft Ventures.

#5 ParkMobile (Funding – €5.7 million/acquired)

Founded in 2008 by Albert Bogaard in Atlanta, ParkMobile is a leading smart parking and mobility solutions provider in the US. It lets visitors and residents pay for the parking from their mobile device via the ParkMobile app. With this service, it is possible to book on-street and off-street parking spaces. Back in early 2018, ParkMobile was acquired by BMW Group to get a significant foothold in the US parking services sector.

#6 Eluminocity (Funding – €6 million/acquired)

Michael Maximilian Schwarz founded Eluminocity in 2014 in Munich. This startup offers charging solutions for electric vehicles and LED streetlights. Its portfolio includes double pedestal charging station, standalone charging station, wall-mounted charging station and lamp post mounted charging point. These charging solutions are available for both public and commercial lighting and charging infrastructure. This startup was acquired by Wirelane in January 2019 and its total funding of €6 million.

#7 Parkki (Funding – €1 million)

Parkki was established in 2016 by four partners in France. It is a virtual assistant of connected car parking. It is a single tool, which connects all the parking spaces. In addition to this, the French startup also supervises the parking spaces in real-time. On the whole, it has raised €1 million funding from Finovam and Mobivia Group.

#8 Parkio (Funding – N/A)

Parkio was founded in 2017 by Joseph Valo, Michael Matus, Pali Gasparovic and Rob Kramer in Dublin. Parkio designs and builds enterprise-grade software solutions to resolve parking and transportation issues. It has an intelligent employee parking systems and offers public transit riders, carpoolers and bike-to-workers.

#9 Parkpnp (Funding – €1.7 million)

Parkpnp was founded in 2016 by Daniel Paul and Garret Flower. It is a marketplace that lets people list, advertise and generate income from the unused parking spaces. This startup offers everyone an opportunity to invest in the car parking of the future with its crowdfunding campaign at an entry fee of €100. So far, it has raised €1.7 million from Enterprise Ireland and Business Venture Partners BVP.
