There are various means of communication these days, thanks to widespread internet connectivity. One is not limited to calling others on their phones via traditional means as various apps provide the same service over the internet, for free. However, all such apps have a drawback that they can only connect you with someone who has the same app installed on the other end and has an active internet connection, otherwise, it doesn’t work.

The Dutch-based startup Talk360 is aiming to fix this connectivity issue of apps that heavily rely on an internet connection. The company has an app that can be used to place international calls on any mobile phone or landline worldwide and it works even if the receiver doesn’t have an internet connection.

The company’s goal is to enable cheaper international calling that is accessible to everyone and to realise its goal, it has partnered with Ding. Ding is one of the largest international top-up platform and with teaming up with them, Talk360 will be available at thousands of Ding retail stores.

How Talk360 works

As mentioned earlier, the startup Talk360 has an app that enables users to place cheap international calls. The Talk360 app is available for download on the Google Play Store for Android and on the Apple App Store as well. One can simply download the app, sign up for the service and start making international calls. It’s really that simple. What’s even better is that when one uses the service, they don’t need to buy a new connection as one will see your regular number while receiving calls.

The service is said to be used by over six million people globally and the company claims it provides the lowest calling rates available. In addition, to maintain good call quality, Talk360 connects all international calls through local phone lines, which means that a call would be placed even if the receiver doesn’t have an internet connection. The app also integrates automatically with your contact list so that it is easy to find a contact and start calling.

Partnership with Ding

Talk360 has now announced a partnership with the international mobile top-up platform Ding. Under the collaboration, Talk360’s services will now be made available at thousands of retail stores worldwide. The partnership was kicked off with the launch of 300 new retail shops in Paris. Each of these outlets advertise Talk360 by using a specially created Talk360 and Ding promotional material.

Hans Osnabrugge, CEO of Talk360 says, “We believe that reliable communication and digital services should be affordable and accessible to everyone. By expanding the number of points of sale with Ding’s retail stores, our call-app will be accessible to a whole new group of people. From now on, that group will be able to use Talk360 to make international calls to stay in touch with family and friends all over the world.”

Talk360 started its journey from Amsterdam, The Netherlands and Johannesburg, South Africa, in 2016 with a small team. The company’s mission was to connect people worldwide and it raised total funding of €4.5 million for this. It soon opened offices in Lagos, Nigeria and New Delhi, India as well.
