Last update:

Reykjavík, Iceland-based Treble Technologies, a deeptech company that specialises in sound simulations for real-world applications, announced on Tuesday that it has raised €8M in a new round of funding. Of this, €5.5M was raised in Seed funding while  €2.5M came in the form of a European Innovation Council grant.

The seed round was led by Nordic VC Frumtak Ventures, with participation from NOVA (the venture arm of Saint-Gobain) and various angel investors.

The startup says it will use the funds to widen its commercial network and infrastructure ahead of its product launch.

Treble founder and CEO, Dr. Finnur Pind, says, “In just two short years, Treble has managed to establish itself as a serious and credible leader in our space. The funding will enable us to launch and scale our platform, with the first release scheduled in early 2023, as we rapidly scale the company.”

“Our technology will not only make the real world a better-sounding and less noisy place but within virtual worlds as well. Audio is of huge importance for immersive virtual experiences, and, going forward, Treble plans to play a major role in the evolution of sound in the metaverse,” Dr. Pind adds.

Treble Technologies: What you need to know

Founded in 2020 by acoustic engineers Dr. Finnur Pind and Jesper Pedersen, Treble Technologies has developed proprietary technology for sound simulation and spatial audio in virtual environments.

The platform allows users to perform a sound simulation with accuracy and efficiency, enabling them to dive into immersive audio-visual virtual experiences of their designs.

Called Treble, the company’s cloud-based virtual sound platform connects with gaming engines and 3D modelling software, enabling multiple industries such as construction, automotive, consumer electronics, and the metaverse to design better sound experiences.

Treble Technologies says the product is in the latter stages of development and will soon be ready for public beta testing before launch in early 2023.

Initially, Treble Technologies will focus on the building industry with leading firms such as Henning Larsen Architects, BIG Architects, and COWI,  before expanding the functionality of the platform to accommodate much wider adoption and use.

At Slush 2022, Treble won the New Nordic Pitch Competition.
