In an exciting development, the ride-sharing company Uber has joined forces with the e-scooter rental company Cityscoot in Paris. With this move, Uber is getting into the electric moped game offering multiple services in a single platform.
Billy Guernier, Uber’s Head of New Mobility Platform, said:
The integration of Cityscoot in the Uber app shows how we can become a one-stop-shop for all your mobility needs while allowing Cityscoot to reach new customers.
Cityscoot!
For the uninitiated, Cityscoot is leading the European scooter-sharing provider. Founded by Bertrand Fleurose in 2014, the company now operates in Paris, Nice, Milan, and Rome. Users can book scooters through their official app with just three clicks.
One-stop shop for all transportation needs!
Along with cars, bikes, scooters, and transit, Cityscoot e-mopeds will be available to book and pay directly in the Uber app in Paris starting from next month.
Guernier, added:
We are proud to help a local player – leader on its market and recognized as a national champion by the French government – grow faster and further expand in Europe.
The purpose of this collaboration is to relieve congestion in city centers and reduce the impact of transport on climate change. Notably, this is the first time Uber has offered e-mopeds in the app anywhere in the world.
Range of mobility options!
Upon this integration, the Uber app in Paris has the most extensive array of product offerings, including bikes, scooters, public transport, and now e-mopeds.
Cityscoot CEO Bertrand Fleurose said:Â
Our partnership with Uber complements their offer and allows us to get further visibility among their wide rider-base. With the convenience and ease of use of our e-mopeds, I trust this will result in additional trips. The strength of the Uber platform will contribute to our expansion in France and beyond, and will boost our growth.
4,000 e-mopeds!Â
With the Cityscoot option, users will be able to locate and book one of the 4,000 available e-mopeds instantly. A Cityscoot ride costs €0.29 per minute. Apart from Cityscoot, Uber has also launched Jump bikes and scooters in Paris as well.
How to book?
Step 1: Open Uber app
Step 2: Upon integration next month, the electric mopeds option will be available next to cars, bikes, and scooters.
Step 3: Select the e-moped of your choice
Step 4: Unlock the e-moped by typing the pin on the handlebar.
Step 5: Start your journey
Step 6: Once the ride is complete, users can park electric moped within a Cityscoot zone or at an authorised place, then click on “end the trip.”
Max speed of up to 45km/hrÂ
The scooter travels at a maximum speed of up to 45km/hr and can be operated by anyone with a valid driver’s license. Furthermore, all the scooters feature helmets under the seat and include a sanitary paper hairnet.
Every ride is insured!
In the case of falling, a warning is immediately sent to customer service. It’s worth mentioning here that Allianz France all-risks insurance covers every trip. Govecs, a Munich-based company, makes Cityscoot’s electric mopeds, which is focused on creating zero-emission electric vehicles.
