California-based Volta Charging, a company that designs, installs, and maintains a network of electric vehicle charging stations, announced its expansion into the European market with an initial focus on Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and France. The announcement was made at the NOAH Conference in Zurich.
Volta’s Europe expansion is driven by experienced local teams of EV charging hardware and software engineers, SaaS experts, and digital outdoor media sales leaders operating out of initial offices in Berlin and Paris.
Commerce-centric EV charging networks
According to Volta, electric cars will be more affordable than internal combustion engine cars in the next three years. People will no longer go to the gas station to fuel up – they will fuel up where they already are. Volta’s EV charging network is predicated on this fundamental shift in transportation and its associated infrastructure needs as the world moves to more sustainable sources of mobility.
Volta’s charging stations offer high-impact digital screens directly in front of top commercial locations and display content for drivers who plug their vehicles into the stations and the customers who shop at nearby retailers.
For site partners, the eye-catching displays and premium station locations help drive business by attracting more customers for longer periods of time. For advertisers, Volta stations double as an innovative, digital out-of-home advertising platform, allowing brands to reach shoppers seconds before they enter a store to make a purchase.
Brands that have partnered with Volta to make an impact include Netflix, Alaska Airlines, smartwater, Chase, Starbucks, Nestle, Anheuser-Busch, Cox, and Hulu.
Vincent Grena, Head of Volta Europe, says, “Volta continues to anticipate and guide the rapidly-evolving changes in consumer behavior around fueling and commerce – proving businesses can thrive while building a more sustainable future. Our local teams of industry veterans look forward to delivering measurable commercial advantages for our site partners, and maximum convenience for EV drivers.”
The build-out of Volta’s network is powered by behavioural science and machine learning technology, allowing the company to deploy infrastructure intelligently and efficiently.
Christopher Wendel, co-founder and President of Volta, adds, “We believe in a regenerative energy future that is clean, connected, and custom-fit to how we live our lives. We’ve been honing our expertise over the past decade in the US, helping to catalyse one of the most significant macroeconomic shifts of our lifetime. We’re proud to see the company we’ve built extend into Europe and look forward to the many opportunities that lay ahead.”
About Volta
Founded in 2010 by Christopher Wendel, Michael Menendez, and Scott Mercer, Volta Charging is a marketing and advertising company that designs, installs, and maintains a network of electric vehicle charging stations funded by sponsor brands.
Volta’s vision is to build EV charging networks that capitalise on and catalyse the shift from combustion-powered miles to electric miles by placing stations where consumers live, work, shop and play. It looks to benefit consumers, brands and real-estate locations while helping to build the infrastructure of the future.
As part of Volta’s EV charging offering, its stations allow it to enhance its site hosts’ and strategic partners’ core commercial interests, creating a new means for them to benefit from the transformative shift to electric mobility.
