Woman-led startup Jacana raises €22M funding to cure chronic pain sufferers with Marijuana

Recently, Jacana, a global medical cannabis company based out of London has announced the launch of a new kind of medical company that harnesses the power of nature to produce certified medical cannabis.

On this development, Jacana has completed its first-ever international export of Jamaican medical cannabis flower, securing multiple international licenses and permits to date.

How did it start?

The business is founded by Alexandra Chong, the Jamaican serial entrepreneur best known for establishing Lulu.

Having grown up in Jamaica, its founder saw first-hand how natural medicine could be used to ease pain and suffering, and wanted to help bring this age-old, natural remedy to the rest of the world. Notably, Jacana offers natural solution to chronic pain suffered by 1.5 billion people globally

Secured €22 million!

On the other hand, the company has secured €22 million to cultivate, develop and distribute certified medical cannabis solutions. According to the press release, the investment will fuel international expansion and build on Jacana’s existing presence in Europe, North America and the Caribbean.

Unique micro-climate and latitude!

Right now, the cannabis is currently being grown at Jacana’s 100-acre farm in St Ann, Jamaica, which has a unique microclimate and latitude create perfect conditions for cultivation. With a global team located in Jamaica, Canada and the UK, Jacana is the world leader in the outdoor cultivation and distribution of medical cannabis.
