The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is one of the biggest tech events that happen every year in Las Vegas. This year, at the CES 2019, almost 4,500 companies all over the world attended the show to launch products across different categories.
Given that Germany is a thriving startup space in Europe, a slew of startups from the country were present at the CES 2019. These companies showcased some of their products at the tech event to give a picture of the sizzling German startup landscape to the world.

#1 Toposens launched 3D ultrasound sensors
Toposens was founded in 2015 by Tobias Bahnemann, Rinaldo Persichini and Alexander Rudoy. At the tech show, the startup launched 3D ultrasound sensors that can transform the way cars, smart homes, robots and more work. These inexpensive sensors map their surroundings with the help of 3D ultrasound for the first time in the world.
#2 ZF showcased the most powerful AI supercomputer in the mobility industry
ZF Group aka ZF Friedrichshafen AG was founded in 1915. They are a global leader in drive-line and chassis technology and safety technology. The company presented its latest model of automotive and powerful AI supercomputer called ZF ProAI RoboThink at the tech show. It involves functions of the company’s IoT platform and ZF sensors like cameras, LiDAR and radar that are intelligently connected.
#3 German Autolabs launched a digital assistant for drivers
German Autolabs founded in 2016 by Holger G. Weiss and Patrick Weissert launched a digital assistant for drivers called Chris. It is designed to support drivers similar to a real co-driver. Chris can be attached to the windscreen similar to a navigation device and paired with a mobile phone using Bluetooth for a connected car experience.
#4 Mitte came up with a smart home water system
Founded in 2015 by Moritz Waldstein and Dr. Faebian Bastiman, Mitte intends to make water better. It is determined to find a way to provide safe and healthy water to everyone and revolutionize the way people drink water at home. The startup built the first of its kind smart home water system to convert any water as clean and healthy as mineral water.
#5 Schaeffler Bio-Hybrid GmbH showcased electric vehicles
Schaeffler Group’s Bio-Hybrid GmbH presented a new and modern form of personal means of transportation. The company showcased electrically assisted vehicles at the tech show in both the Passenger and Cargo versions.
#6 Giesecke+Devrient aims to drive the 5G ecosystem
Hermann Giesecke and Alphonse Devrient founded Giesecke+Devrient (G+D) in 1852. As we are stepping into the 5G era, the company is all set to drive the hyper-connected 5G ecosystem. It intends to revolutionize the IoT security framework with SIM-enabled Secure Cloud Connect IoT solutions.
#7 Azultec devises eco-friendly miners
Azultec founded by eight experts is involved in researching current mining solutions to create an efficient alternative with low power consumption and high computing power. It launched Cube devices that are silent mining rigs installed in the living rooms. These miners use renewable energy and can reuse most of the generated heat.
