Imagine if your lunchbox could heat the food on its own! Well, Heatbox comes with a similar concept and it a healthy alternative to microwave., It heats the food through a steaming system, preserving the nutrients. Also debuted on Kickstarter, the app-connected device is further leak-proof, thanks to a unique, patent-pending double sealing technology. Notably, this lunchbox can heat three meals on a single charge.
Based out of Amsterdam and founded by 4 diverse individuals with backgrounds in mechanical engineering, international business and entrepreneurship, Heatbox comes with a vision to share the freedom of food, to enable consumers to enjoy a warm and healthy meal.
Lucid dreaming machine: ‘iBand.’
Also, there on Kickstarter Amsterdam-based startup iBand has developed a headband helps users to sleep and dream! The band uses EEG technology (electroencephalography, the study of electrical signals in the brain) along with an advanced auto-learning software algorithm to track and analyse information about your brain and body throughout the sleep cycle.
With the information gathered from the user’s previous sleep cycles, the iBand+ app recommends the audio-visual techniques that can work best and helps users choose from the pre-loaded audios. iBand+ was co-founded by Samir and Purva Raut in 2015 and you can order it over here.
‘NOWI’ smart chip enables low-power connected devices to live forever
NOWI is a private semiconductor firm from Delft, the Netherlands, founded in 2015 by Omar Link, and Simon van der Jagt. With “Energy Harvesting” technology NOWI saves even small amounts of energy and use it to operate electronics. The company has developed a tiny chip that enables low-power connected devices to live forever.
Instead of needing to continuously bring energy to the device in the form of cables and battery changes, NOWI’s technology enables companies to use the energy that is already readily available around the device. Interestingly, it can be light, heat, movement or even radio waves. With this, the low power devices such as sensors or smart wearables will never require charging or battery changes when Nowi energy harvesting is used. The Dutch startup has raised in total €10.5M in funding over 3 rounds.
Get electric kick scooter that always works with ‘STEP.’
STEP is a B2C “Product-as-a-Service” solution for electric scooters. In the latest development, users can subscribe online and receive an electric kick scooter to your doorstep, wherever you live. This startup aims to make green mobility accessible for everyone by providing an alternative to cars for short trips.
STEP mobility has its headquarters in Amsterdam, Netherlands, with an office in Brussels. It was founded by Benjamin de Terssac (CEO), Srinivas Sista (COO) and Evrim Taskiran (Chief Product Officer). The company is planning to expand its operation to France in Q1 2020. Talking about the price points and models, STEP offers four models – ECO (€39/month), STANDARD (€59/month), PREMIUM (€79/month), ELITE (€99/month). The e-scooters are equipped with lights on both front and rear.
Affordable solar car ‘Squad’ with self-charging solar cells
Based out of the Netherlands, Squad Mobility has announced a new compact solar car called ‘Squad’. As per the company claims, Squad is an affordable Solar-car for daily (sub)urban mobility. This solar-powered car was developed by ex-Lightyear employees and the company’s CEO is Robert Hoevers.
Interestingly, Squad is a self-charging Solar-Electric Vehicle. How? The roof of the car is covered with solar cells, which directly charges the on-board battery while driving and when parked. Since it is powered by an electric motor and a battery it can work at night also. This car is now available for pre-orders in the EU, the Squad’s retail price is set at €5,750 and it will be sold as a light 4-wheeled vehicle in the L6e category.
