Amsterdam-based Bloom & Wolf, a startup specialising in providing premium silk flower services, announced on Thursday, April 25, that it has secured €1.4M in a pre-seed funding round led by CapitalT, with participation from Joanna Invests and various angel investors.

The Dutch company will use the funds to expand its product offerings, expand its B2B sales capacity, and further establish its position as a leader in the artificial flower market.

Birth of Bloom & Wolf

The history of Bloom & Wolf dates back to the Dutch Golden Age, a time when Dutch flowers were gaining global recognition.

Rachel Ruysch was a notable painter during this era and was known for her lifelike and fanciful floral paintings that often combined flowers.

She lived on the Bloemgracht (Bloom Canal) and the Wolvenstraat (Wolf Street), which inspired the name of the Bloom & Wolf store.

In honour of Rachel Ruysch, all bouquets sold at Bloom & Wolf are named after powerful female painters who have made their mark in history.

Bloom & Wolf: Luxury silk flower company

Founded by Gwen van de Pas, Bloom & Wolf specialises in providing premium silk flower services tailored for both B2B and B2C customers.

The Dutch company’s offerings include a diverse range of bouquets, each hand-selected and arranged by a renowned Dutch master florist, available for purchase or rental.

While one-off purchases are available throughout Europe, subscriptions are currently limited to the Netherlands.

Additionally, the company says its subscription service prioritises eco-friendliness, boasting 85 times fewer CO2 emissions compared to traditional flower subscriptions while being on average 4 times cheaper, making sophistication accessible to all.

“Traditional flowers come with a hefty price tag, require extensive care, and contribute to environmental degradation through transportation, refrigeration, and pesticide use,” says Gwen van de Pas, Founder, and CEO of Bloom & Wolf.

“We recognised a pressing need for a sustainable alternative that doesn’t compromise on aesthetics or quality. Bloom & Wolf is proud to offer luxury artificial flowers that not only alleviate these concerns but also elevate the overall flower experience,” adds de Pas.
