Utrecht-based ASR Nederland, an insurance company, announced on Wednesday, March 22, that it has acquired stakes in two companies, Soople and Fixxer.

ASR Nederland says it has  acquired a majority stake (70 per cent) in Soople, a subsidiary of Plegt-Vos. The company specialises in property maintenance and repair work. The remaining share will remain with Plegt-Vos.

The company has also acquired a minority stake (49.84 per cent) in Fixxer, a newly established company in collaboration with Belfius Insurance, with the remaining share being retained by Belfius Insurance.

ASR’s partnership

By partnering with Soople and Fixxer, ASR Nederland aims to enhance its capabilities in the area of property maintenance and repair work, while also gaining access to new technologies and market opportunities.

ASR Nederland plans to integrate its current recovery partners and systems into Fixxer following the closing of its agreement with Belfius Insurance in April 2023.

The company has assured its customers and repair partners that there will be no immediate impact on their current working relationships due to the changes.

Customers and repair partners will continue to work with ASR Nederland and receive the same level of service until the integration is complete.

Robert van der Schaaf, director of P&C at ASR Nederland, says, “The partnership with Soople via Plegt-Vos and with Fixxer via Belfius Insurance fits in well with a.s.r.’s strategy of investing in sustainable damage repair and innovative services for customers.”

“With Soople we acquire this knowledge and experience to continue working on the further development and use of sustainable solutions for our customers. Additionally, the proven technology developed by Belfius Insurance, allows us to optimise our services to non-life customers in the long term,” adds Schaaf.

Soople: Offers daily maintenance services

Plegt-Vos, a prominent company in the construction industry, founded Soople in 2018 with a specific goal to concentrate on daily maintenance services.

Soople’s core mission is to deliver complete and thorough service to its clients by overseeing daily maintenance, from initial contact with residents to planning, execution, and invoicing.

The company’s daily maintenance services cater to a variety of clients, including property managers, building owners, and homeowners’ associations.

Theo Opdam, general director at Plegt-Vos, says, “In addition to the business market, there are many opportunities for Soople to service customers in the private market with sustainable damage repair as well.”

“The partnership with a.s.r. helps us to pursue our business-to-consumer dream and at the same time contribute to the path towards fully sustainable damage repair in the Netherlands.”

Belfius Insurance: What you need to know

Belfius Insurance is part of the Belfius Bank and Insurance group and sells its products (life, non-life, and loans) on the Belgian insurance market.

Fixxer was founded to accommodate the proven digital platform, Jaimy, which was developed by Belfius Insurance, and to further develop and manage it from there.

Frédéric Van der Schueren, CEO of Belfius Insurance, says, “We are particularly pleased that a.s.r., one of the largest Dutch insurers, has taken an interest in Fixxer. This is a nice recognition for both Jaimy and Belfius Insurance.”

“Thanks to this strategic partnership, Fixxer will be able to count on two strong shareholders for the evolution of the technology platform, who share the same vision and many common values – including in the field of sustainability – to continue its growth and development,” adds Schueren.
