Known for its electric scooters, Circ expand its mobility platform to Abu Dhabi: All you need to know

Rising in traffic, congestion, and pollution made way for the newest trends in mobility that are small, shared, cheap, and nimble. The micro-mobility services like dockless bikes and mini-scooters are making headlines around the world.

In fact, the rise in the micro-mobility companies has been documented over the years with companies like Circ, Felyx in Europe, providing consumers with convenient options for last-mile transportation. Moreover, many e-scooter companies are expanding their presence to make the most out the micro-mobility market.

In the latest development, Circ (previously called as Flash) has established its regional HQ in the UAE, with a multi-million-dollar investment. Notably, this is the first office for the company outside Europe.

First international micro-mobility!

Furthermore, Circ is the first international micro-mobility company to officially launch in the Gulf region in partnership with local regulators and private developers. Now people can use the e-scooter in designated areas of Abu Dhabi as well.

Lukasz Gadowski, Co-Founder of Circ, said:

Exceeded three million rides in 2019!

Founded by Carlos Bhola, IQ Sayed and Lukasz Gadowski in 2018, Circ has already exceeded three million rides this year. It’s worth mentioning that the Circ’s service is now available in 39 cities in 12 countries.

Expansion on cards!

In addition to Abu Dhabi, the company is planning to expand to other Gulf countries led by Circ MENA co-founders, Jaideep Dhanoa, and Bader Al Kalooti.

For the uninitiated,  Jaideep was the global head of Grab’s micro-mobility business and brings years of professional and industry experience from Grab, Careem, McKinsey & Co., and the Walt Disney Company. On the other hand, Bader is a serial entrepreneur who has founded and scaled several successful start-ups in Dubai, including Laundrybox, Mybox, and S’wich.

For the uninitiated, Circ was created by a team with a shared vision of cleaner, safer, better-connected journeys. Its proprietary e-scooters are designed for sharing, constant use and built to last. With micro-mobility in mind, Circ is also developing new vehicles that will enable and be a part of a sustainable and multimodal integrated urban transport network.

In our exclusive interview with Carlos Bhola, a few days back, he said:

Circ’s e-scooters are equipped with a more massive rust-resistant alloy frame and sports larger wheels, along with suspension and independent braking systems. While there are new versions of the e-scooter in development, Circ has a range of vehicles that it will soon introduce in the market.
