Tortola, the British Virgin Islands-based Cadman Capital Group, an independent private equity investment firm, announced on January 19 that it has bought a strategic equity stake in North Holland-based Urchinomics, a restorative aquaculture venture.

Restorative aquaculture venture

Headquartered in IJmuiden, Urchinomics rehabilitates unhealthy oceans into healthy ecosystems to benefit the planet and humanity.ย

The company does this by removing overgrazing sea urchins and helping nature turn a barren seafloor back into a vibrant kelp forest.

The removed sea urchins are then ranched and sold as premium seafood to restaurants worldwide.

Brian Tsuyoshi Takeda, founder and CEO of Urchinomics, says, “Cadman Capital Group’s involvement in Urchinomics is a milestone moment for us. Their scientific and operational experience in restorative aquaculture means we can move forward with an aligned mission to improve ocean health.”

He adds, “It signifies the start of the next stage of our growth plans and to further our efforts in developing systems that can truly make a difference to the future of our planet.”
