Last update:

North Brabant-based CM.com, a provider of conversational commerce, announced that it has acquired Amsterdam-based GUTS Tickets, a blockchain ticketing company.

With the acquisition, CM.com offers its customers access to a smart ticketing system that uses blockchain technology and dynamic QR codes.

“This blockchain technology provides a solution to the biggest challenges in the ticketing market: fraud and price gouging in the secondary market,” Jeroen van Glabbeek, CEO of CM.com. “Unique and dynamic QR codes ensure that tickets are fully traceable and fraud-resistant. This gives fans a safe and fair way to participate in events, while organisers can count on transparent ticket sales.”

The announcement comes a month after the Dutch company raised €20M by offering 2,985,075 new ordinary shares.

GUTS Tickets: Making ticket fraud impossible

Founded by Maarten Bloemers in 2016, GUTS is a ticketing system that uses blockchain technology to register ownership of smart tickets.

Tickets with QR or barcodes are a familiar phenomenon. These unique codes are scanned at the entrance to grant access to an event. However, a PDF ticket can be resold or printed multiple times, which poses risks.

Blockchain technology offers a solution to this issue.

Tickets purchased through this technology contain a unique code that is automatically renewed with each transaction.

As a result, GUTS makes ticket fraud impossible.

If a ticket is resold, the original code becomes invalid and the ticket returns to regular sales at the established price.

This system effectively eliminates scalping and guarantees that each ticket is truly unique and secure.

Founder Maarten Bloemers says, “Since establishing GUTS Tickets in 2016, we have had one clear goal: making the ticket sales process fairer and more user-friendly for fans and event organisers. Thanks to the acquisition by CM.com, our blockchain technology becomes accessible to a large portion of the market, taking an important step in realizing our mission.”
