Rotterdam-based Widget Brain designs, builds, and runs algorithms that make autonomous decision making possible. Founded in 2015, the company has opened offices in Canberra (Australia) and Burlington, VT (USA). The Dutch startup has a mission to maximise employee happiness, business performance, and compliance with scheduling and forecasting.
Secures €2M funding
The Dutch startup has just announced that it has secured €2 million funding from Volta Ventures. The company intends to use this investment to expand globally and provide AI-based scheduling services to optimise workforce management as well as predictive maintenance. Further, the investment is believed to let the company intensify its existing workforce optimisation partnerships and create new ones in North America, Europe, and Australia at a faster rate.
First external investment!
Notably, Widget Brain has been profitable since its launch and this is the first time that it has raised external capital.
The AI-powered workforce optimisation services offered by Widget Brain lets companies strike a balance between the various business objectives and automate the rostering process completely. This helps come up with the best schedules ever.
This Artificial Intelligence-based solution is the right answer to the stricter labour laws that have made it tough to hire new employees, retain existing ones, and rising labour costs. Well, Widget Brain is currently thinking of expanding into other markets with its predictive analytics portfolio.
Plug-in AI services
This startup provides plug-in AI services paving the way for advanced demand forecasting and automated employee scheduling. With AI technologies, viable rosters can be made within a span of minutes, thereby reducing the overall time spent on making them by up to 75%.
Furthermore, customers of Widget Brain such as Dominos Pizza, CitizenM, McDonald’s, and Facilicom have managed to get 5% better business performance in terms of labour costs and revenue. This makes these companies comply with the local labour laws and enables more transparent and fairer work schedules.
Regarding the same, Widget Brain CEO Joachim Arts said, “Customers are increasingly asking for automated scheduling services and they pay us monthly to provide the best schedules ever made. Because of our 141% growth in MRR, we decided in the summer that it was time to attract growth capital to fund this growth, and we found the best partner in Volta Ventures. They believe in our vision as a management team and support the expansion strategy wholeheartedly.”
