Techleap.nl (formerly StartupDelta), a non-profit publicly funded organisation that helps to quantify and accelerate the tech ecosystem of the Netherlands, has announced the next batch of scaleups for its Techleap.nl Rise Programme. Notably, the ten scaleups from the Netherlands have been selected by a jury led by Special Envoy of Techleap.nl, Prince Constantijn van Oranje.
With this programme, Techleap.nl and top entrepreneurs such as Pieter van der Does (Adyen), Derek Roos (Mendix), Ali Niknam (bunq), Steven Schuurman (Elastic), Chris Hall (Bynder), Michiel Muller (Picnic), and Corinne Vigreux (TomTom/Codam) are committed to accelerating the international growth of the Netherlands’ most promising scaleups.
The aim of Techleap.nl Rise is to support the emergence and development of world champions in the technology sector, to become less dependent on technological solutions from other countries, and to create a climate in which two unicorns per year can ‘rise’ by 2023. By 2023, Techleap.nl Rise wants to have supported 250 promising scale-ups.
How does it benefit scaleup founders?
Founders are encouraged to learn from each other about the challenges of scaling up a company. They receive support and feedback from top Dutch entrepreneurs who share their insights and lessons learned with the new batch of promising scaleups. As part of the program, Techleap.nl also puts the entrepreneurs on the international map with governments, corporates, investors, and media.
The insights from the program will also be shared to further improve the tech-ecosystem in the Netherlands and to define bottlenecks and solutions for the growing challenges of scaleups.
Criteria
To participate in Techleap.nl Rise Programme, the scaleups should at least tick two of the following criteria:
- Currently raised €10M+ in a funding round or they are preparing to raise this amount in their next round (which is likely to have been previously funded for €2-5M);
- An annual turnover of more than €1M; more than 20 FTEs employed;
- At least 100% growth year-on-year and a clear understanding of the product/service and the market they serve.
- Participants in this batch have an average of 35-40 people employed and 170 per cent revenue growth in 2019.
Tjarda Voorneman, Director of Techleap.nl Rise Programme, says, “We are very excited to get started with this new batch of companies for the Techeap.nl Rise Programme. We can’t wait to help accelerate their growth by bringing them together to share insights and learn from some of the world’s leading Dutch entrepreneurs.”
